Description

The Resolva is a spray gun that is already mixed and ready to go. The idea is quite simple, in the warmer months (Mar-Sept) simply spot apply this to the areas of leafy weeds. This is the main difference with Weedol lawn killer actually. They want you to mix up into a garden sprayer and hit the entire lawn. As a result it’s hard to tell which is more value other than to look at it from a meterage basis – you’ll get about 50m2 from a spray bottle vs 600m2 from the Weedol concentrate. In addition to producing flowers and seeds that are dispersed by birds, mature Ivy vines propagate through vegetative runners. Controlling mature ivy stands can be challenging. Ivy can be hard to remove by hand or by clipping alone as it grows aggressively when mature. Usually, mechanical and chemical methods have to be used in the home garden when trying to control English Ivy. How to dispose of English Ivy? English ivy will take over as much space as it is given, therefore it is an effective ground cover plant and can help suppress weed growth. However, it’s invasive and grows so rampantly that some regard it as a weed. Ivy has much wildlife value. As ground cover in woodland, ivy greatly lessens the effect of frost, enabling birds and woodland creatures to forage in leaf litter during bitter spells. Growing on trees, it provides hiding, roosting, hibernating and nesting places for various animals, birds and insects (including butterflies), particularly during the winter months and in areas where there are few other evergreens. The arboreal form is also an invaluable late nectar source for many pollinating insects

In most of the weed killers, they would have mentioned a timeline for replanting, but for this product, there is no time bar for replanting; this is an excellent feature in this product. If the branch canopy becomes thin and allows sufficient light to enter, the ivy will develop into its arboreal form. Fraxinus (ash) and Larix (larch), are both trees with a naturally thin, open crown so may suffer heavy infestation. For this reason ivy on ash and larch trees is often controlled In male CD-1 mice, glyphosate induced a positive trend in the incidence of a rare tumour, renal tubule carcinoma”. That’s a citation from the press release. Kurtail Evo: Mix 25ml in 1L water to spray and cover the leaf surfaces, enough to wet, but not dripping off.

Replenish by Replacement

Ivy growing on trees is often thought to be a serious problem, endangering the health of even very large trees. However, its presence on the trunk is not damaging and where it grows into the crown this is usually only because the trees are already in decline or are diseased and slowly dying. When to tolerate ivy We’ve got three very different products. The easiest is Roundup. This is just a pump and go sprayer – premixed and ready to use. And so dictates how we will use the other weed killers too for a fair test. The Weedol tubes treat 30m2 each and are designed to go into one litre of water – so we will load 2 litres and two tubes: Two tubes of Weedol into a couple of litres of water

For example, if you are dealing with a large ivy patch covering a wall near trees, you might start by manually removing as much ivy as possible while being cautious not to harm the trees. Horticultural Vinegar:Fill a spray bottle with undiluted horticultural vinegar and apply it directly to the ivy leaves. Repeat regularly to exhaust the plant's energy and inhibit its growth, this is more costly than using a commercial weed killer. Ivy can be seen both as a valued plant and as a troublesome weed. Ivy has high value to wildlife offering birds and other woodland creatures a place to forage in the leaf litter during colder months. Alongside this the plant can also be a great late nectar source for many pollinating insects. Many also see the plant as a decorative feature that can cover an unsightly wall they are not too fond of. The very next sentence in the Lancet report is the following “A second study reported a positive trend for haemangiosarcoma in male mice”. It can be applied without a spraying certificate and is exactly the same strength as professional weed killers (360g/l of Glyphosate). That pretty much sums the product up really. It’s really strong and it works great but there is a little more to discuss…Method: neat weedkiller is introduced straight into the phloem through a hatchet cut into the bark of the ivy leaving the plant in tact. In life, you have to pass something no matter what you do, or you do nothing. Even if you do all steps to make your land more fertile, the weeds will surely grow and the brambles too.

Weedkillers for gardeners (Adobe Acrobat pdf document outlining different weedkillers available for gardeners; see sections 1a and 4) Links: The ivy will die on its own in a few days or you can spray again when it is at shoulder or waist height to speed up the process. As the ivy should no longer be tightly attached to the tree, you can then try removing it high up with a ladder.Ivy is not an invasive plant to the UK and is actually native to the UK and Europe. Ivy is the common name for a species of about 20 different evergreen perennial plants, for example Poison Ivy is one of them. Trees do not get damaged by Ivy, Ivy does not harm healthy trees, a common myth about it is that it damages trees; however, this myth is not necessarily true. Saying that Ivy can reduce the capacity of a healthy tree to generate energy. Does Ivy Kill Trees? Once the more important facts from the test are established, we will then look at value for money as well as quantities required. And I don’t mean what the manufacturer tells you, I mean the truth from testing 🙂 what is actually effective. Test conditions Here in the UK, English Ivy is native and may not be as invasive as it is in other countries, but it can still exhibit invasive behavior under certain conditions and in specific environments. What the motives of the WHO were for their grotesque distortion of information in front of the public, I have no clue to. But I beg of you this – do your research before accusing anyone of anything. The guys that wrote that blog post are in their right to encourage using Roundup, especially when it comes to a notorious menace like the common ivy.

The Lancet press release stated that three previous studies have reported increased risks for non-Hodgkin lymphoma due to glyphosate exposure. Well, guess what the full monograph actually said about these studies? Here it is: First, let me point out that NUMEROUS national and international agencies have reviewed Glyphosate and the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) is the only one to conclude the chemical is “probably carcinogenic”. And that only happened in the press release. And for woody weeds, the best season is from June to August. For Tree stumps, the best time for treatment is autumn or winter. When I tested Doff, I found that this 1-litre product will, when diluted, treat up to 400 sq metres, so it is perfect for almost all domestic gardens. It is more effective against woody weeds, nettles, brambles, tree stumps in the grass, hardwood saplings, and other neglected non- crop areas. And it is also effective on broadleaf weeds and creeping charlie. It’s pretty easy to use – just drop 15ml per 5 litres of water if applying with a watering can – personally I like to use a garden sprayer so the ratio changes to 15ml per litre – as far as I’m concerned, more water and dilution means less MCPA and Fluroxypyr that settles on the leaves. I have to say though, the watering can method is less vapour so probably a bit better in terms of safety:
