EMP160 is an advanced moulding paste (also known as laminating paste) for use in the production of high temperature moulds/tools for prepreg and resin infusion. Pigment has already been added to the basecoat resin at 10% which is at the upper end of how much pigment can be added to a resin but if you wanted to experiment with making increasing the intensity of the pigment further then you could try adding up to a maximum of an additional 5% by weight of this pigment to the basecoat. The mix may be sticky should the temperature be above 15 degree C and dusting with a powder (even plain cooking flour will suffice! Smaller particles means more vibrant colours from less pigment, improving the appearance of pigmented parts whilst minimising the performance reduction of the resin caused by pigmentation.

However, for mixing purposes we always recommend adding the pigment to the resin part BEFORE adding the hardener to allow you plenty of time to properly mix, so that means you will just need to plan ahead slightly so you know what your total resin and hardener mix will weigh. The cured material can be planed, chiselled, drilled, and worked with carpenters’ tools in the same manner as wood -with the added advantage of constancy in carving as there is an absence of grain and knots.
