Only the supertalented Tess Gerritsen can meld multiple storylines so successfully while she keeps the twists coming, the pages turning, and the blood spray arterial. Despite Angie’s careful attention to everything going on around her, she still manages to grasp the wrong end of several sticks, getting herself into hot water. Rizzoli and Isles have been working together in their unique way for years, but the delay between novels has me eager to see what they have been doing. I wanted to read it all in one sitting, but, unfortunately, life got in the way and I had to do it over two days.

I almost feel unfortunate to have finished it so soon but I'll definitely find another story to enjoy reading more. But Angela's convinced there's a real wolf in her vicinity, and her cries might now fall on deaf ears. Nothing else to say except this: Welcome back, and pretty please listen to me and make it less time between this one and the 14th! With no one listening to her, and danger mounting in her neighbourhood, Angela just may be forced to take action on her own. Rizzoli and Isles has been one of my favourite crime series’, and Tess Gerritsen one of my favourite authors, since I borrowed The Surgeon from the library almost twenty years ago.

Yet, maybe Angela is on to something this time as her new neighbors aren't friendly at ALL: they don't want her prize-winning zucchini bread, they've installed bars over the windows, they keep the shades drawn all day, and she's pretty sure the guy has a gun.Angela’s instincts tell her there’s something suspicious about them, and she tries to tell her daughter, Boston PD detective Jane Rizzoli, this, but Jane fobs off her concerns as ridiculous. Tess Gerritson used to be one of my favourite authors, but the characters seem to have run out of steam a bit.

Amy, the physician's daughter who ran the ICU where Sofia worked, was involved in a hit-and-run accident months earlier. When Jane finally makes a connection between Sofia and the victim of a hit-and-run months earlier, the case only grows more blurry, What exactly was Sofia involved in? A graduate of Stanford University, Tess went on to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, where she was awarded her M. ICU director Dr Mike Antrim mentions the care she gave to his daughter, Amy, after her hit-and-run two months earlier. I find it interesting with this series, that even though time marches on (COVID-19 was mentioned at one point) the character’s barely age.The story opens as college student Amy Antrim is run down and nearly killed by a hit-and-run driver, leaving her dependent upon a cane to walk. But staying in the background is just not in her genetic make-up so - especially when no one will listen to her - what's a mother to do? Die Story ist im Vergleich zu den früheren Büchern der Serie wenig komplex und von der gewohnten Spannung ist das Buch auch weit entfernt. Indeed, it occurs to me that Gerritsen deliberately gives the reader the experience of being ahead of the protagonists on occasion, creating an immersive reading experience.

The gruesome murder in her own home of Sofia Suarez, a trauma nurse at the local hospital, had Detective Jane Rizzoli and her partner Detective Frost, stumped. Some of the more intriguing parts of the book, though, are the sections told through the eyes of the mysterious hit-and-run victim Amy. At the beginning I thought of giving up but with time I got used to that and wanted to finish as curious to learn the end. Gerritsen effortlessly switches between the parallel storylines, and although they are both compelling and complex, Angela steals the show, and you cannot help but be drawn to her with her dramatic flair to solve the mystery. I detested the Angela character, don’t waste your time with it, which is sad as I was looking forward to it.Maura Isles team up again for a 13th episode in Listen To Me when an ICU nurse is found brutally murdered in her own home.
