About this deal

The fixed-focus lens captures photos at 10MP, while the flash can be toggled between off, on and auto mode. While the battery compartment is a little stiff to open, it does feel secure, and built-in folding fingers on the camera makes it easy to swap between the two mounts. Bethany was particularly taken by the eye-catching yellow and black pattern design on the façade of the Kidizoom. Sporting a familiar retro design, the Now+ is available in the usual white or black with rainbow stripe, as well as a cool new Blue Gray option.

The 8-megapixel camera can in fact produce digital photos with a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448p, which upgrades you away from the grainy shots you’d expect from a basic kid’s camera. However, the Now+ has superior image quality thanks to the improved autofocus and flash systems, and it has a number of app functions that the OneStep+ lacks (the only thing it doesn't have is the noise trigger mode, which isn't something we really miss). That means a two-lens autofocus system, double exposures, self-timer and an improved flash for better exposures. It can also be used in its secure waterproof case when swimming and snorkeling - it’s worth noting that while this model is waterproof to 6ft, giving youngsters plenty of splash room, for anything more thrill seeking the GoPro (waterproof to 33ft) would be better suited. Other than that, Fujifilm has stuck to basics, with no creative controls such as a timer or ability to capture multiple exposures. Instant photos are a joy to share, an invitation to conversation, an instant hit at parties, and a perfect gift for loved ones.

As you'd expect, the Polaroid Now+ is an evolution of the existing Polaroid Now– which already stands as one of the best instant cameras on the market. Another spread similar to the last one with the films as the weekly bubbles and a blue polaroid drawn on the side as an accent. With 1080p footage and an included control and carry case, you have all you need to take to the skies. While the Polaroid Now offers the same base shooting options and image quality, and the OneStep+ offers some of the same Bluetooth connectivity and creativity, the Now+ combines the best features of both products. The app-based functions work brilliantly, from the seamless pairing to the turn-on-and-go nature of using the app in tandem with the camera. With every shot, you're not only capturing a moment; you're creating a timeless keepsake that truly embodies the charm of yesteryears.

Photos print in around 30 seconds, though pictures are slightly lacking in contrast – with fuzzy edges and slightly washed-out colours. The credit-card snaps pop out of the top and we got great shots nearly every time, though we found that we had a better success rate with the main setting, rather than selfie mode. The Now works with Polaroid i-Type or 600 film, both of which were previously made by Impossible Project and now sold under the Polaroid moniker. Once Mary had shot footage on the camera she could instantly view it on the app, via a low-res preview, which could be downloaded in high res.If you’re planning to start a bullet journal, things such as this cheap bullet journal, this Micron Pen Set, and some highlighters to give an extra pop of color! And does the reliance on smartphone connectivity get in the way of the "instant" part of instant photography? You can save up to five shots at a time on the tiny built-in memory but there’s also a MicroSD card slot so you can boost storage up to 256GB. Unlike the Instax Mini however, the Polaroid Now has a nine-second self-timer, which made it easier to snap selfies and this, Mary thinks, would come in useful at her next birthday party.
