About this deal

However, if you're looking for a book on something specific or heavier like a death or illness, this might not be the best starting point. For very similar reasons to Jon Klassen, I really admire Oliver Jeffers’ ability to communicate a huge amount of emotion or mood with the bare minimum of marks. Tom Percival's Big Bright Feelings series is the perfect springboard for conversations about mental and emotional health, positive self-image, building self-confidence and managing feelings. Reading about Tilda in a book allowed for a new viewpoint rather than the same reassurances from mum and dad.

IN any one image he might paint on top of film negatives and then scan that in, print it out, paint on it again and then maybe scratch his drawing in to the resulting chaos. One day she spots a ladybird who has got itself stuck on its back, it’s world is upside-down just like Tildas. Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap.Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! They illustrate the narrative perfectly as children can follow both and it is a real attention grabber.

Tilda Tries Again: A Big Bright Feelings Book by Tom Percival

The story explores how Tilda can discover a new way to approach her problems and believe in herself. A valuable asset to the library of a child who experiences anxiety and a great book to get children talking about their feelings. It could also have a positive impact on children in a way that may just make them feel good inside and out and ready to try again, as Tilda does. I found 'Tilda Tries Again' to be quite real, harrowing, and relatable to me, as an adult in her thirties. This book would be a FAB addition to any child’s bookshelf with its bright and bold illustrations, it’s encouragement of managing feeings and it’s message to persevere and not to give up. As with all the other books in the series, Tilda Tries Again is the perfect addition to all primary school libraries and book corners and can be woven into the curriculum with great ease. This is what would now be published as a Y/A book, but when I read it aged eight or nine, it was just published as a ‘children’s book’. I always seem to end up going with the illustrative equivalent of the ‘Wall of Sound’ in music production! Even when your world has been turned upside-down, and you feel it will never end and nothing will ever be back to normal again.
