About this deal

Plan | We’ve shared all the key information on how to get to Inverness, plus how to spend your time in the city before or after your North Coast 500 adventure, in this post: Our Wee Guide to Inverness. Being flexible also applies to where you might stop to eat and drink, what attractions you may visit or what outdoor adventure you might find yourselves involved with! You’ll find passing places frequently along single track roads; please ensure you know how to use these correctly.

North Coast 500 - Scottish Route 66 - Book Your Tailormade Tour North Coast 500 - Scottish Route 66 - Book Your Tailormade Tour

If you're the slow, cautious driver (nothing wrong with that by the way) and you've got someone driving very close to you or a queue building up behind, then you should pull in to a 'passing place' on your left hand side when sensible and let them all safely overtake and go ahead of you.

If you are interested in taking a holiday across these dates, please get in touch for a bespoke quote. If you just want to experience one of the world’s best roads you could just about manage it in a day – but then you’ll miss everything the route has to offer. The area has miles of rocky coastline to explore, and if you are lucky, occasionally whales are seen offshore.

500 Planning your NC500 Adventure - North Coast 500

Bringing together a route of just over 500 miles (516 to be exact…) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages, hidden gems, and a wealth of unforgettable experiences; the North Coast 500 is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. We don’t recommend relying on Google Maps; the North Coast 500 includes lots of single track roads, which often take longer to travel than expected – particularly if you’re new to the area. Why not take longer to visit huge sea caves, sail to a tropical island to see puffins, or bag Scotland’s most northerly Munro … there is so much to see and do along the route it’s a shame to not do it justice. Strathy Point Beach/Strathy Point Lighthouse– a great spot to see dolphins and whales in the summer months. Travellers to Scotland should be prepared for what locals often describe as ‘four seasons in one day’.If you want to experience Scotland at its best, either on a budget or where cost is no concern, then the North Coast 500 will deliver.
