If the computer is close to the amp, typically 1 meter is sufficient. If you have other splitters preceding the "combiner" then they too will be short circuited left to right.simply because there is zero isolation between any of the connectors on a simple splitter. I think my trouble may be because I am trying to use one or more of the adaptors/leads the wrong way round, because it became apparent when wiring it up that I had misplanned 2 male/female connection points. However I never manage to understand when you can and cannot treat audio components as reversible.
