About this deal

We got a lot of new outdoor furniture this year when we re-did our patio, but had a few pieces that we wanted to keep from our old patio furniture. Unfortunately, they had quite a bit of staining on them from the rough winter we had and they really stood out against the new furniture. After a good cleaning with the OxiClean™ solution, however, they looked as good as new. To clean, fill the scoop to line 4 and mix with one gallon of hot water. Apply the solution with a rag or sponge and scrub as needed. Rinse it down with the hose and dry.

OxiClean - Wikipedia

Whether you’re removing stains from clothes or cleaning hard surfaces in your home, borax and OxiClean are go-to products. Don’t forget about periodically cleaning your trash cans – it’s kind of gross what ends up in there even if you do line them with a bag. Our trash cans got a good cleaning last month when we were working on cleaning and organizing the garage. To clean, make up a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and hot water {use 1 scoop filled to line 4 with every gallon of water}. Apply the solution with a cloth or brush – I use a stiff bristled brush on a pole to get down to the bottom – and scrub as needed. Rinse it down with the hose and it’s good as new!OxiClean elaunch ads wait in wings". Marketing Week. July 26, 2007. Mays is the public face of OxiClean, a stain-removing powder marketed by Orange Glo International, a small but fast-growing cleaning products company that sells its wares partly over the Internet. OxiClean, launched in 1997, is a mixture of sodium percarbonate and sodium carbonate sold in a plastic tub. It's promoted as a household cleaner and laundry detergent booster with amazing stain-destroying properties. If you’re using borax as a spray cleaner, dilute ½ of a cup into 12 ounces of warm water. Softly mix until no clumps remain. Pour the mixture into a 12oz spray bottle and use as required. You can see here how dirty our carpets were. The left side is the cleaned carpet and the right is still dirty. The light spot to the right is where I had cleaned up a pet stain earlier in the week.

Things to Clean with Oxiclean - Clean and Scentsible 7 Things to Clean with Oxiclean - Clean and Scentsible

Notes: OxiClean cannot be used on wool, silk, leather or anything else that cannot be washed with water. It also is not recommended on rust and other metallic stains because of the oxidation process. In this comparison of borax vs. OxiClean, I break down their ingredients, uses, safety, and performance. The PH scale measures the acidity and alkalinity of a solution. It ranges from 1-14, with 1 the most acidic and 14 the most alkaline; 7 is neutral. Bottom line — borax and OxiClean are both highly effective and inexpensive. But if you’re on the fence, go with Oxiclean. Finally, there’s the scent. It’s a pleasant scent, but right out of the box, it’s strong. And, we highly recommend doing the pre-soak in a well-ventilated space. The powerful fumes began filling the house, so we closed our laundry room door. Interestingly, when it’s added to the wash water, it’s not bad at all. After the clothes dried, they definitely have a strong scent but not a bad one. Also, when borax mixes with water, it converts some of the water molecules into hydrogen peroxide. This bleaching agent brightens stains, making borax even more effective.

OxiClean (6 Key Differences) - Prudent Reviews Borax vs. OxiClean (6 Key Differences) - Prudent Reviews

I had persistent carpet stains on my staircase. They were either spot of garlic butter sauce which comes with a pizza or drops of coffee with cream and sugar. The stains have been in the carpet so long I can no longer remember which are which, and I have used bleach, various carpet cleaners and Simple Green without success. Moore, Paula (2004-05-02). "OxiClean breathes new life into cleaning line". Denver Business Journal . Retrieved 2020-01-06. NOTE: Although this mixture worked for our light colored carpet, I’m not sure about using Oxy Clean on darker colored carpets, so be sure to test it before you start just to be safe. Yes, there will be a slight vinegar odor, but it dissipates in about 24 hours time. Oxiclean contains sodium percarbonate. When it’s mixed with water, it breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate.Mix up your solutions on demand—make just enough for what you’re cleaning, don’t store it for later use. Hydrogen peroxide is the same bleaching agent that occurs when you mix borax with water, and it removes the stain the same way. Sodium carbonate alkalizes the water, breaking down acidic stains the same way borax does. The directions also claim that Revive is safe on colors. Whiteners typically aren’t color-friendly, so we definitely tested this with some trepidation. We followed the directions to a tee and our load came out just fine. We’d say that no matter what kind of clothing you wash—be it whites or colors—following the directions is the best way to protect your items. Formula and Scent: Strong on both accounts This post is sponsored by the maker of OxiClean™ and free product has been provided. As always, all ideas and opinions are 100% my own. Ingredients: Borax is a naturally occurring compound made up of boron, sodium, and oxygen. OxiClean’s active ingredient is sodium percarbonate, which breaks down into hydrogen peroxide when mixed with water.

Borax has several uses, but it’s associated mostly with laundry. It can be used as a spot-stain remover or as a detergent aid. Step 3: Rinse your carpet with the steam cleaner. I rinse one time with just hot water in the cleaner. Then I go over it a second time with a few shakes of tea tree oil in the water in the steam cleaner. Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial. Just awesome.

Carpet Stains (Spot Cleaner)

If the stain is fresh, remove any loose particles and blot up as much of the stain as possible before treating. To clean the remaining stain, mix up a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and hot water in an unsealed container, filling OxiClean™ powder to line 1 per 16 ounces of water and pour into a squeeze bottle. Apply to saturate the stain and allow it to sit for up to 5 minutes. Do not allow it to dry. Blot with a clean white towel and repeat until the stain is gone. Make sure to rinse the area with clean water afterwards and blot dry to completely rinse away any remaining residue. {NOTE: Blotting rather than scrubbing the carpet will remove the stains and will help maintain the fibers of your carpet}. Upholstery Make sure that you’re always using hot water to mix up your solutions, this way the product can completely dissolve. If you need to use the solution on something where cold water is necessary, that’s fine, whip up the solution and then let it cool. But borax also has many other applications aside from laundry. You can use it as an all-around cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms, an odor reducer, or even a water softener. Borax is also great for eliminating bugs and weeds.
