About this deal

A single lens reflex camera uses a mirror in front of the film to reflect the view through the lens up into an optical viewfinder. When you press the shutter release, in addition to the shutter opening up briefly, the mirror flips up out of the way for an instant. A DSLR is the same, except a sensor is used instead of film.

Burst shooting, meanwhile, can be carried out at a rate of 5fps, while built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow for wireless image transmission and remote control from smartphones and tablets. Spot AF and Smooth Skin options make their debut With identical dimensions and near-identical weight, the real differences between the EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 and the EOS 200D/Rebel SL2 are on the inside. Canon EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 vs EOS 200D/Rebel SL2: what's definitely different But for anyone who is keen to explore video and stills together, and is still learning about photography and its potential, the EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 is the better camera. It’s better for video, better for live view operation and better for helping you learn the basics. If that sounds like you, then we think it’s worth the extra.

Michael can manual focus his lens and look through the viewfinder and see his results while the power is off. BUT, if this is your first proper camera, you’re a DSLR novice and you’re interested in video, vlogging, social media sharing and broader ‘content creation’, the EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 brings some important advantages. 1. Video Person A is always going around to convince person B that person A's system is better because in reality person A really doesn't believe their system is better. And what you mean by "direct access"? You can't adjust exposure settings when DSLR is turned off or go to menu. You need to power the DSLR up just like mirrorless. If you mean with "Direct Access" that you can use DSLR like a scope, that is true. But masters don't even need to use viewfinder to previsualize the framing.

Just about everything in that list is Canon's latest and greatest, and the external microphone input is a nice extra. The one feature that's not new is the 9-point autofocus system that you'll use when shooting through the viewfinder – it's identical to what's found the original SL1, which is over four years old. You'll get a much better focusing experience by shooting in live view, which uses Canon's excellent Dual Pixel AF technology. Compared to... The kit we got for review had two lenses alongside the body, and these are the things you get in the box in case you buy the two-lens kit of Canon EOS 200D II. The variangle LCD screen here is a touchscreen display and the option to angle it at your wish is the best one for vloggers. The only issue with it is that we felt it could get loosened with vigorous use, otherwise there are many uses-cases for the movable LCD screen, as you won’t have to rely on an external monitor when facing the camera to see how good the frame view is. Let’s face it, mirrorless does have real advantages. There’s less camera shake when taking photos, since there’s no need to flip the mirror out of the way. Things are somewhat simpler. The lens can be closer to the sensor, allowing more optical design possibilities. The viewfinder – because it’s really just a mini-screen showing what the sensor is seeing – shows 100% of the scene, not a smaller central section. And you can use the rear monitor for framing your shots. Some things that we would appreciate Canon to have include them in the camera, starts with the Auto Lighting Optimizer, which does a good job of recognizing the objects and set the tone and hue based on the light conditions around, and especially in places where sunrise and sunset comes into the factor, the usual case of shadows coming into play is well controlled by the optimizer. Another software feature that gives an appreciable help to the user is the Creative Assist function that helps user set the right functionality to get the best of the results, and while it usually would need the dial to scroll through the settings and adjust them, here the Creative Assist helps in easily achieving the same.

Strictly comparing the SL2 and D3400 you'll see that they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. While there are 'little things' like the type of LCD, viewfinder size and wireless functionality, live view autofocus is the main differentiator. It's simply no contest there with the SL2's AF system blowing away the D3400 in live view and movie mode. On the face of it, the Canon EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 looks like a pretty modest upgrade of the existing EOS 200D/Rebel SL2, and for stills photographers who only occasionally dabble in video, the older camera will give you exactly the same quality and features as the new one, but at a lower price. Whichever one you go for, while it's cheaper to buy these cameras body-only, we'd always recommend paying just a little extra to get them with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM kit lens.
