A really interesting and wonderfully unusual concept that captured my attention immediately and had me hooked the whole way through. There is so much I will take away from this book, but the truest and it may seem simple to others, but something I have to remind myself whenever I am going through a trying time, is that all suffering is temporary. Often we can’t see out of the hole we’re in, but there is light…eventually. And the lessons we take from that darkness, how we choose to incorporate them into our lives, will make the difference as we move forward. That is Dr. Eger’s message and one of this book’s many gifts.

We get some great tips in this intriguing story. It's full of wisdom and compassion. The book is well written and easy to understand. There's stories from other survivors of various events. Edith has lots life experiences. It teaches us new techniques to change how we are feeling/reacting/behaving. Everybody could learn something from reading this well written book about mental health and self care. I liked the hinted tidbits that sealed the gap between scenes without disclosing major spoilers. As long as you say you can’t forgive someone, you’re spending energy being against rather than being for yourself and the life you deserve. To forgive isn’t to give someone permission to keep hurting you. It’s not okay that you were harmed. But it’s already done. No one but you can heal the wound.”

JUST BUY IT EVERYONE!” While The Choice was a chronicle of her life story and how she ended up in the psychology field, The Gift is her gift to the world on how to escape the prisons of grief and sorrow from someone who's done it. While Dr. Eger mentions her experiences with the Nazi's somewhat in this book, most of it is focused on the current day and what some of her current patients have taught her.Rose—a senior with beautiful ebony skin and a killer volleyball spike—wraps her long leg over the arm rest of the love seat. “You can light all the candles you want, the only thing this board can do is teach J.R. the alphabet.” Hope doesn’t obscure or whitewash reality. Hope tells us that life is full of darkness and suffering—and yet if we survive today, tomorrow we’ll be free.” In London, there are rumours that the body of a 'fallen angel' was found in the Thames.
