I carry a rechargeable SDS drill with an 8mm masonry bit for the really tough hard standings. Useful to wind the pegs out afterwards and spin the steadies up and down. Made from Aluminium Alloy, the Big Dog screw in peg is 35cm long, and has a left aggressive thread, which allows the peg to secure awnings etc. in gravel, or soft ground. The idea of screw in sounds fine, and on something soft, where the point can continue straight down, they're fine, but so often it just comes up against a stone and there isn't enough grip behind it (even with me leaning on the drill) to go any further, so it just spins. Blue Screw offers two plastic pegs at 310 and 580mm long. They are ideal in sandy environments with exceptional high-hold abilities. Blue Screw suggest its pegs work well in snow, sloppy mud and underwater too, which would be ideal for a boat mooring. The rope hook on top is large enough to attach multiple guy ropes. This product is aimed squarely at sand and soft soil use; forget trying to twist it into hard ground – it simply won’t work. As the Blue Screw is so flexible and long, you need to ensure it’s wound all the way in if pulling it at an angle, but works equally as well if screwed in line with the rope pull instead of at an angle, which could bend or twist the shaft beyond its limits. Caravan Rollout Awning Anchor Kit for Easy Camping Setup

Are made of stainless steel, which makes it light weight and corrosion resistance, so it won’t rust We now have a GroundGrabba Junior for lower loads and harder grounds available with great holding power but not to the same degree as our Pro, Pro I and Pro II. Don’t take our word for it, see what RV Daily says Ground Dog screw in pegs are sold individually, and each Ground Dog screw in peg comes with an orange Hook Collar. The first pull was set to be pulling the peg out of the ground at a 45° angle, replicating use on a tarp, awning or tent – in effect, trying to bend the peg as well as pulling it free from the ground, and that’s a no-no for some of these pegs. The Pro II’s aren’t just for camping! You can use them to secure your light aircraft, outdoor play equipment, securing outdoor and patio furniture, rigging lighting or staging structures for outdoor events or for permanently anchoring something in your yard. There’s so many uses for the GroundGrabba range. Got a question? Get in touch

Screw in Pegs to Secure Awnings on Soft Ground Big Dog Screw in Pegs to Secure Awnings on Soft Ground

Screw-in tent pegs make camping so much easier. If there’s one thing you need in your camping equipment, it’s a screw-in tent peg that you know will keep your tent, caravan awning or annexe in place. Georgie McRae We used Hex Pegs for a marquee at my wedding. They were so easy to use, and kept it very secure in windy conditions. So much easier than trying to use weights or traditional pegs – thank you Hex Pegs! I have never understood the shape and usefulness of the plastic top on these (any) pegs and they are usually broken easily by a misplaced hammer blow (ouch!). I now put a penny washer under the top, it holds the ladder strip much better. http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/117475-bit-of-a-basic-question-but/?hl=%2Bscrew+%2Bpegs&do=findComment&comment=1370899 Instead of hammering your tent pegs in the old way, just screw these into and out of the ground in seconds with your rechargeable drill.Ryobi pulled a fast one with their one+ range. Once you buy into the system with a couple of tools and a battery it makes no sense to stray unless their tools are not up to the job in hand. As it is, their tools are of ample quality for all but the most dedicated DIYer. I bought some screw in pegs from Aldi, last year. Tried them once - absolutely useless. Even starting them with a lump hammer (defeating the object of them, IMO) they wouldn't go in. Just spun around and I agree that there is a danger of catching fingers / awning ladders as the top spins round. I hate putting the awning up on a hardstanding - which is why we invariably go to places where we can have a nice grass pitch!

You might be wondering how to attach your tent or structure ropes to your GroundGrabba – all you need is the HexHook to slip over the top of the GroundGrabba Pro, Pro I or Pro II then simply hook your rope over the end. They’re yellow zinc plated for anti corrosion and come with a lifetime replacement warranty if in the unlikely event they break. You can also use these on coach bolts (but GroundGrabba’s are way better :) Ezy Anchor is the product of some 25 years of camping and caravanning across Australia – from Fraser Island to Lawn Hill to Kakadu to Broome to Esperance, Broken Hill and beyond.
