Description

Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Gastroenterology, The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK ENTEROSGEL is not a drug. It works just in the gut, acting like a clever sponge, gently cleansing the gut of harmful substances and before expelling them from the body in the stool. Do not use ENTEROSGEL® within 2 hours before or after taking oral medication. ENTEROSGEL® may affect the absorption of some medicines that are administered orally. If you are taking any medication, you may wish to consult with your doctor or pharmacist regarding taking ENTEROSGEL®. Enterosgel is an oral adsorbent, typical of several materials, such as charcoal, clay, silica-based materials and dietary fibres used to treat poisoning and different diseases, such as diarrhoea. 15 The therapeutic mode of action of Enterosgel may occur through the adsorption of bacterial toxins known causes of diarrhoea followed by complete removal from the body. In-vitro studies have demonstrated Enterosgel’s capacity for Escherichia coli endotoxin, bacterial enterotoxins Clostridium difficile toxin A and B, and Shigella toxin 16 and staphylococcal enterotoxins A and B. 17 Other mechanisms may include creation of an adverse environment for pathogenic microorganisms, 18 immunocorrection 19 and inhibiting viral replication, 20 primarily through physical adsorption. A possible benefit of Enterosgel use is in reducing the level of complications of diarrhoea-related bacterial infection. Prospective studies have shown that up to 36% of intestinal infections can be followed by prolonged post-infective irritable bowel syndrome. 21 Thus, treatment with Enterosgel could offer a reduction in secondary care admissions, and financial burden on the health service. However, a large-scale study is recommended with health economics evaluation before introducing Enterosgel onto the UK’s drug tariff. This product seems to be working for my post-infective IBS-C, despite the indications for its use in IBS-D. Pain and bloating improved as well as a return to normal bowel function. Had tried all allopathic treatments over the past seven years, including other alternative ones, to no avail, until now.Very grateful to the director of research for her very useful advice and support.

A 2019 laboratory-based UK study demonstrated that Enterosgel can adsorb (bind) bacterial toxins and bile acids which could help treat tummy bugs and IBS. We used an official guideline to diagnose people with IBS-D, which may have stopped people with milder symptoms from being able to join the study. We used a water placebo as the control treatment to compare with Enterosgel mixed in water. These were not identical, but it was not possible to make a placebo the same as Enterosgel. We did not ask participants if they knew which treatment they had been taking during the double-blind phase. It may be that some knew which treatment they had taken (became unblinded) once they started the open-label phase when all patients took Enterosgel. We tried to limit this from happening by not allowing people to join the study that had used Enterosgel before. Enterosgel is also used as an integral part of treatment in children and adults with atopic dermatitis, as researchers have found these patients also have increased blood levels of endotoxins. Use of Enterosgel (at the appropriate dose for age) as part of a complex, anti-allergy, treatment regime can reduce the level of toxins and pathogens in the gut to improve skin condition and overall health. For children 15+ and adults: 15 g to 22.5 g (approximately 1 table spoon or 1–1,5 sachet) diluted in 200 ml of water 3 times a day. In the beginning of the treatment (on Day 1) you can double the first dose and then continue with a single dose after each bowel movement from 3 to 6 times a day.

Double-blinded randomised placebo controlled trial of - Gut

At the end of the open-label phase 264 patients out of 349 (76%) reported adequate relief of their symptoms. Contributors CAH is the author responsible for drafting the manuscript. PP acted as the Chief Investigator for the study and provided support in the recruitment, assisted with the study design and contributed to the manuscript. EM, AVK and RA assisted with the study design and contributed to the manuscript. VA conducted the statistical analyses and data interpretation and contributed to the manuscript. AK was responsible for the management and coordination of the study, conducted the literature search and oversaw data collection and management. All authors read and approved the final manuscript. What happened during the study: 440 patients were recruited and given either Enterosgel or placebo, which they took for 8 weeks (Double-blind phase). Like any medical treatment Enterosgel can have a variety of side effects. Possible side effects of the gel include nausea and constipation. Always ask your GP for advice before using any new forms of medication or pain relief. Where to Buy ItWhat was tested: Enterosgel was compared to placebo. This study monitors the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. Enteros Gel is amazing, my wife has suffered from IBS for a few years and she has had to endure all the restrictions that this awful complaint brings, from the moment she took the first dose of the gel her life completely changed and she thankfully, nolonger suffer from IBS symptoms. If you suffer from IBS, you must try Enteros Gel. The only slight negative point is that if you take it regularly, it can be i bit expensive but worth the price. Safety: In this study, researchers found that people who took Enterosgel had slightly fewer, but the same type of side effects as the placebo.
