About this deal

Credit: Micah JamesThe handles on the Echo are pretty similar to the handles on the Maclaren, but they aren't executed as well. The button end caps on the handles had a tendency to dig into our hands, especially when steering one handed. If the foam cover had extended all the way to the end covering the plastic cap it would have been a nicer feel and more natural in hand. The buggy bumped over kerbs well and the swivelling front wheels give it a fairly tight turning circle. The handlebars are padded for comfort but not extendable, though they are a decent height which suited Liz’s tall partner (6ft 3). While the buggy can be pushed one-handed, it’s difficult to steer, which is mostly down to the split handlebar. We’ve tried so many double buggies but have found the Mountain Buggy Duet to be our favourite” - recommended by Mumsnet user, river12 Our verdict Side-by-side double buggies tend to be wider than the average pram so may not be suitable for public transport or small car boots. They often have roomy storage baskets though and can be folded easily, but if you have an older child who often wants to walk, the second seat will sit empty. Most are suitable from birth or you may be able to attach an infant carrycot or car seat. Tandem (inline) double buggy

We liked the recline mechanism on this buggy – one of the best we tested – and found adjusting it with one hand easy to accomplish. The recline feels secure and smooth when in lie-flat mode, so it doesn’t disturb a sleeping child, and the harness can be adjusted for children of different ages.Value for money: taking all of the above into account, we wanted to know if it was worth the price tag and whether this was a pram that Liz would recommend to other parents. Each of the buggies was given a score for each area and when the final tallies were in, the awards were given to the six highest performing prams with the Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 emerging as the best overall double buggy to buy for babies, twins and toddlers. About the author With two children in tow, you’ll require a sturdy pram that you can load up for a day out. The Echo Twin’s frame is made from steel with several plastic components and, while not as solid as pricier buggies like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double, it’s sturdy enough to comfortably hold two children plus extra baggage.

The Chicco Echo Twin Stroller comes with a rain cover that fits over both seats, keeping both children nice and dry. Age range: Newborn (with carrycot) to 4 years | Maximum load: 45kg (22kg on each seat) across two seats | Product weight: 15.5kg | Dimensions: 87 × 76.5 × 41cm (folded); 104.5 × 80 × 102cm (unfolded) | Travel system-compatible: Yes | Orientation: Side by side What we love One of the most important factors parents consider when buying a stroller is safety. Chicco understands this concern and ensures that all their strollers meet the highest safety standards. Each stroller is equipped with safety features such as a sturdy frame, secure harness, and efficient braking system to provide a safe and comfortable ride for your little one. The Echo had the lowest score for ease of setup out of all the products in this category. It earned just 5 of 10, with the top ranking Combi Twin Cosmo and Britax B-Agile Double tying with a 7. It took just over 12 minutes to assemble the Echo. It had good documentation compared to the other products in our review, but it would be better if all of the assembly directions were lumped together and appeared before the operation instructions, instead of them being sprinkled in together. No tools are required for assembly which is nice for those mechanically impaired. It lost points primarily for how long it took to get it ready to stroll, the longest time for any product in this category. Best Applications

2. Best budget double buggy: Chicco Echo Twin Stroller

We introduced new pushchair tests in 2015, 2018 and again in 2019. This model will not be directly comparable to those tested before October 2019 With six sets of wheels, the Chicco Echo Twin Stroller has double that of the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double.

Chicco understands that style and comfort go hand in hand for parents and their little ones. With sleek designs and plush seating, Chicco strollers not only provide a comfortable ride but also make a fashion statement. Day-to-day usage: we ensured the pram was tested on all kinds of terrain looking at how the wheels performed, how easy it was to push, turn, fit through doorways and lift over kerbs or bumps. We also tested the fold mechanism and looked at where it could be stored. We carried out a storage basket test and assessed the seats, such as the recline option and whether you can add a carrycot or car seat. We also tested the effectiveness of the hood and rain cover.

What is the best double buggy to buy?

Assembly: we noted what was in the box and whether all the basics were included. We looked at the instructions and how easy the pram was to assemble. Frame: Steel, POM, PA6, Polypropylene, Polyurethane, EVA, Seating: 100% Polyester, Canopy: 100% Polyester, Basket: 100% Polyester Narrow Design: Unlike strollers for two that are designed for the children to be side-by-side, this stroller has the children in front of one another, allowing for the design to be narrower and, consequently, easier to maneuver.
