I thought you might be here,” she responded absently as I came up. “I remembered you lived next door to——” She held my hand impersonally, as a promise that she’d take care of me in a minute, and gave ear to two girls in twin yellow dresses , who stopped at the foot of the steps. She narrowed her eyes and shivered. Lucille shivered. We all turned and looked around for Gatsby. It was testimony to the romantic speculation he inspired that there were whispers about him from those who found little that it was necessary to whisper about in this world. Goof: In Dan Vs., it is revealed that that Dan is 36 years old according to his driver's license being born in October 31st, 1975. Despite this, he is only 5ft., 6in. while Chris, who was born in 1985 is 6ft., 2in. at 26. Mumbles once again arranged for the murder of his former band-mates, as well as a record collector named Vincent Vinyl. This time, he was successful. He was present when the combined forces of the Major Crimes Unit and the Tracy Agency raided the Panda Agency, and was shot 3 times. Mumbles was wearing a bullet-proof vest and survived.

Dan's and Chris' friendship was advertently stemmed by the two: of Dan of the one dunking Chris in a toilet and Chris being the one dunked. Occasionally, something will rile Dan up while he's in the middle of exacting revenge on another party. This results in Dan whipping out a steno pad and writing down the offending object on his list of things to get revenge on later. (The list includes: Babies who cry at the park, babies in general, generals, dull pencils, pencils that are too sharp, Banana Slugs, Costa Rica, Neurotoxins, Alpaca Wool, Being forced to express his feelings, and Arizona.) Dan is a short-tempered man with a mission to exact revenge on anyone and anything he deems has wronged him. While expressing a very shallow and abrasive demeanor, in reality, he is simply too overwhelmed with stress, becoming overly-sensitive to everyday pet peeves. Whether due his poor living standards expounded by no job or by a horrible and terrifying childhood, he has been noted as decidedly unable to overcome this compounded stress. In stark contrast to how a normal, comfortably living person might deal with things, he instead takes matters to into his own hands, his solutions varying anywhere from assault to full on endangerment (which explains his vast criminal record), once he decides he can't restrain his anger anymore. He also sets out to undergo whatever methods necessary to stop the cause of this tripled agitation (upon him or, occasionally, the whole of the society) through his "revenge missions". Dan takes things he considers low standard (such as Ninja Dave, anything on Dan's list, normal misbehaved children, Chris, etc.) impersonally, while taking higher instigations (such as balloon cultists, demon bosses, abusive summer camp directors, extorting-thuggish children, wolf-men, etc.) very personally. He believes the entire world is out to get him, which is true most of the time. He will stop at nothing to make sure he settles the score even if his win is pointless, if it costs him more than he gets out of it. He can appear to be selfish and seem that he doesn't care what happens to others, though he's also known to hide his true feelings and is reluctant to admit them. ( Burgerphile, the Animal Shelter, Parents, The Family Thanksgiving, and The Family Cruise.). He also has poor communication skills towards other people in soft moments, so he sometimes has trouble with admitting his true feelings and comfort ( The Catburglar, The Animal Shelter) yet is able to properly show his love to animals and pets, such as his cat Mr. Mumbles.

Mumbles was a lieutenant of Al "Big Boy" Caprice, having previously worked for Lips Manlis. He was presented as part of a trio of Big Boy's most trusted henchmen, along with Itchy and Flattop. She was adopted by Dan shortly before he blew up the animal shelter across the street from his apartment in " The Animal Shelter". Mr. Mumbles is an ideal companion for Dan and is often there for him after coming home from having a bad day (which is mostly everyday). Often times, Mr. Mumbles' presence can help calm Dan down and, at times, reduce the severity of whatever diabolic plan he has for sweet revenge. Dan is very protective of her, as seen in " The Catburgular", as well as other episodes. He probably likes the cat more than Chris.

Mr Mumbles by Barry Hutchison | Waterstones

Much to Dan's enraged side, he has an anti-enraging secret weapon and calming figure to his angry tendencies. Mr. Mumbles is Dan's adopted and saved a scruffy kitten from The Animal Shelter (ep.5 - Dan Vs. The Animal Shelter). Just by her over-whelming, adorable cuteness, she can calm Dan down into normal levels of human functioning with her extreme love. In turn, Dan can never say no to this figure of absolute affection and kindness and always gives in to her tummy rubs. Dan is extremely loved and is soothed by his kitten, Mr. Mumbles even forgiving her for sending Chris off the roof or leaving him in his time of need (ep.19 - Dan Vs. The Family Camping Trip). He's a jerk as his shirt implies, yet an affectionate sap in the hands of his kitten.

Elise's Parents - Saved Elise's parents from getting killed by the mafia {[STRIKE]} it's a tad pointless though since the whole thing was his fault, to begin with, as Dan tried to set Don up as a mafia father to get arrested by the police. [BONUS ++] Uncovered Louie as a crooked police officer under work by the mafia. One of Dan's former friends is an unseen character called Ted, he has never appeared on the show, but he's on Dan's List.

Invisible Fiends Series by Barry Hutchison - Goodreads Invisible Fiends Series by Barry Hutchison - Goodreads

This was way creepier than I had been expecting, with a pretty good storyline. I had gone into this book thinking it was MG/middle grade but I would be a bit hesitant giving this to that age group as parts of this are more YA/young adult level. Kyle hasn't seen Mr Mumbles in years. And there's a good reason for that: Mr Mumbles doesn't exist. Tracy held Mumbles for interrogation during his investigation of Lips Manlis' death. Tracy believed Mumbles to be the weakest of the three and therefore most likely to give up information. Mumbles, who was sweating under hot lights, was taunted by Tracy with water held just out of reach. Mumbles finally gave a statement, but it was so high-pitched and garbled as to be incomprehensible. This book is a crazy, dark, fantastic journey through Kyle's childhood, domestic secrets and a tightrope walk between imagination, dreams and the so called real life. At least a dozen men, some of them little better off than he was, explained to him that wheel and car were no longer joined by any physical bond .Elise Sr. (voiced by Meredith Baxter) is Elise's mother, who dislikes Chris but not quite as much as her husband as she keeps her time and attention to an unspecified Mafia family. At one time, both Elise and Elise Sr. had to fight each other, as their missions were in conflict with each other. I have never loved reading but this series has made me want to buy book after book from this series. I loved this series and i wish it could continue but Kyle's story is over i just wish Barry Hutchison made another series like this i love his books and i would recommend this book.
