About this deal

It's more like hobby than that it makes sense haha. The OPA1612A is already a really good opamp. I am guessing the improvement will be marginal but audible. I'm hoping to open up the soundstage a bit more. From what I've read the Sparkos discrete opamp is practically the best there is. And since the DAC is not really struggling with much else hanging behind a quality LPS and with the guys from topping knowing what they are doing. Rolling in a top notch opamp seems to be one of the improvements that can be made for a slightly different sound signature. Some have said these are more warm than the DX3 but the comparisons were made on the older dac chips and not the ESS ones In this review, I’m looking at the TOPPING DX3 Pro+ Bluetooth DAC/Amp. The DX3 Pro+ is an updated version of the DX3 Pro and comes with an ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chip and Bluetooth 5.0 with LDAC and aptX HD support. The DX3 Pro+ comes with a host of improvements, including lower THD+N (DAC), 85% lower THD+N (HPA), more power and lower input impedance. Let’s dig in. When talking about size the Sparkos will be the most favorite if I can get it to fit just inside the case horizontally.

I like listening to female vocals so clearly this has it's benefits. Also I pair it with a Lehman with Burson V6 discrete opamp. Which in turn does open up the sound. Without the Lehman the DX3 Pro outs are a bit more narrow and less sparkly.Based from what you say is it better to try the K5 Pro ESS then? Also another friend suggest if I like the Dragonfly Red just buy a Jitterbug and be done with LOL.

The front dial/button controls the volume. In addition, a short press on the button cycles through the input modes and a long press powers the unit On or Off. All of the other functions are only available via the included remote control. Using the remote, you can mute/unmute, change the volume, cycle through input modes, select the digital filter mode, set the gain mode, change output mode and set the brightness level of the display. Internals Speeding things up a bit, when playing “Harridan” by Porcupine Tree, the DX3 Pro+ flexes its ability to drive rhythmically and react swiftly to pace changes. The electric guitars bite with a gritty power and distinct leading edges while the manic drums of Gavin Harrison beat with tidy precision. The unit also comes with a remote controller. It is not necessary to control the SMSL C200, as you can do it using just the volume knob, but it does make things easier and more convenient. It’s made of plastic and it has the following buttons: power, up, down, left, right, enter, input, FN (used to switch outputs and, when long pressed, to set the screen to automatically switch off), mute, raise and reduce volume. Features & Specs The DX3 Pro+ comes in an understated, clean white box that’s almost bare apart from the TOPPING logo on the top. Inside the box, the DAC/Amp is seated securely in a soft foam insert with an additional foam pad on top. TV optical or spdif out to a DAC headphone amp. This should give good stereo quality. Sony are not yet supporting 3D audio over the HDMI. So you lose out on the 3D audio Tempest engine until Sony allow it over HDMII have some update here too. So after struggling to find an upgrade from Dragonfly Red (in terms of same sound signature). My friend super recommend me to get Violectric V200. Long story short, there are some area V200 does better some area worse. So it's still not a complete upgrade.

Also I remember you come from Dragonfly Red right? Do you feel right at home with the switch to K5 Pro ESS? Obviously, for testing purposes, I want something easy to access and swap and if I like it I'll solder it in more reasonably permanent as close to the PCB as possible. I would like to use the Amp. purely as a power amp since I expect the DAC chip in the C200 to be superior to the AS501.My linear power supply for the DX3 Pro arrived today and I replaced the Topping D50 in my computer based HiFi system with the DX3 Pro + linear power supply. I'm listening to it as I type this post. The sound is beautiful. I preferred the Topping D50 in my headphones system. However, I prefer the DX3 Pro in my speaker-based system. I have a pair of JBL 305 MII and it sounds great on my PC (JDS atom lap+D30), and another pair of JBLs connect to my tv via 3.5 > XLR and the sound is not like the PC setup. Usage is around 90% on PC thru USB and 10% on gaming console thru optical. RCA possibly with turntable but it would be somewhat niche activity. PC usage includes roughly equal parts of gaming, movies and music listening from a very wide range of genres.
