About this deal

Not all vampires are direct descendants from the two Mortarchs. Legend says that Belladamma Volga bargained with the undead godbeast Hrunspuul receiving from him her powers (and curse) reflecting the most sacred of the animal-spirits she venerated: the wolf. It is so that the Vyrkos Dynasty was born and why they hold so dear the wolf as their symbol. Soulblight Gravelords is an army belonging to the Grand Alliance Death, reuniting the most iconic undead denizens of the Realm of Death: vampires, skeletons and zombies. There are two spell lores: Lore of the Vampires (usable by most hero wizards) and Lore of the Deathmages (usable by the Mortarchs, Necromancer and Torgillius).

Evolution not revolution – Whilst the book isn’t bursting with new ideas, it’s a really solid iteration on the previous tome, and almost everything has been tinkered with. The announcement of the Soulblight Graveyards comes alongside the upcoming release of Warhammer: Cursed City, a new standalone Age of Sigmar dungeon-crawler boxed set, with the same undead theme and visuals as the vampiric army. The new units of the Soulblight Gravelords have reportedly been visually designed as an extension of those undead ghouls of Cursed City, so their units can sit nicely alongside one another on the tabletop. These cunning artificers are the latest addition to the disciplined ranks of the Ossiarch hosts. Katakros and his underlings have been busy refining their tactics, sharpening their nadirite, and practising their magics to conquer the Mortal Realms for the Supreme Lord of the Undead. There’s an important note on the Vyrkos enhancements here – unique Vyrkos units can take these traits and artefacts. Vyrkos is bursting with great named characters and this lets you take them with no regrets, there’s also some pretty nice combinations out there. Expand the Grave-empires is extremely battleplan situational, and needs you to hold two or more objectives wholly outside of your territory and have them also be contested by summonable or vampire units. If the situation comes up this can be a gimme, but there will be games where it’s literally impossible.

Kastelai Dynasty

Lumineth Realm-Lords– 23 minis, including a Vanari Bannerblade, one Lord Regent, 10 Vanari Auralan Wardens, 5 Bladelords, 5 Dawnrinders, and a Sharstard Ballista. Lady Annika and Kritza are vampires with the same profile as the generic one. Lady Annika has a 4+ ward and the ability to be put in reserve to re-appear in the enemy territory later on, other than permanently reduce the save characteristic of an enemy hero or monster. If you are more competitive, this army needs fine balancing to win matches. Hammers and anvils require proper screening and buffing to work fine so surgical piece removals, especially heroes may hinder your plans. Be careful of shooting and use your reserve and chaff units accordingly. Maintaining control of the objectives through an attrition war will be the key to win most games. When an enemy unit casts a spell that isn’t unbound within 18” of the Amulet of Screams they take d3 mortal wounds on a 3+, so if you like watching skinks and grots blow themselves up this is for you. The Orb of Enchantment is a once per battle artefact you use on an enemy hero within 3” in the combat phase, on a 3+ they don’t get to fight. Long suffering Kruleboys players will sing you songs of the horror of one-use artefacts that require a dice roll. The Legion of Night

Brand new and providing decent power is Unbending Will , giving your general a 12” aura that makes summonable units count as two models on an objective. With the sneaky ways Soulblight have of getting summonable units onto objectives, this could have a lot of value in flipping close matches. Artefacts of Power A bit more versatile than it was, it’s another faction for people who want a more herohammer-y Vampire list, and naturally, Blood Knights. Battle Traits For those in the United States and Canada, Forge World Memphis** has had its requisitions delayed by solar interference, so the Omnissiah’s Talon box won’t arrive until early next year. Supplies from Mars are slightly delayed for those of you in Canada and the US, where the Omnissiah’s Talon box will drop early next year. Adepta Sororitas Battleforce: Purgatos Mission This does make me wonder where the long-rumoured GW (not Forgeworld) Horus Heresy box is going to fit in now? Probably in the new year?Mannfred’s legion was generally considered the weakest of the original Legions of Nagash. Its powers weren’t generally that helpful and the attached warscroll battalion didn’t do it any favors either. The new Battletome attempts to retain the feel of the legion but steps it up by a lot. Ageless Cunning lets you pull a Stormcast Eternals and put half your army in reserve (though you can only outflank from the board edge, so it’s not exactly the same) and The Bait makes your chaff Deadwalkers and Deathrattle units slightly tougher with a +1 to save for the first turn. So put your strong stuff away where it can be protected from ranged fire, lure your foe in with some Skeleton Warriors and then drop the Vampires on them. It’s a grave situation, but this is a great time to be a fan(g) of all things undead… Alright, enough with the puns and on to the reveals. Mortisan Ossifector Above Suspicion lets you deploy your general in reserve and bring them onto the battlefield at the end of one of your movement phases with normal more than 9” away from enemy unit restrictions. Not a bad way to protect a key piece into shooting alpha-strike match ups, or long deployments now that pinions has gone. Hedonites of Slaanesh– 30 minis, including a Shardspeaker, three Slaangor Fiendbloods, ten Blissbarb archers, one homunculus, five Exalted Seekers, and ten elite warriors buildable as Mymirdesh Painbringers or Symbraesh Twinsouls.

Anyway, there are 5 subfactions. As normal, it does not limit you from including anything, although some bloodlines are oriented toward a particular playstyle or grant additional battlelines. Many characters in the book are already part of a subfaction and you can include them in other stuff but they won’t gain the benefits of the legion. We’ll go over the traits of each legion and what that playstyle means, and a few choice artefacts and traits that might be worth looking at. For a full deep dive, we’ll work on a start competing within the coming weeks. Legion of Blood These rapacious elites fall into many dynasties, defined by the cursed blood running through their veins, each vying for power and status as Nagash recovers from his defeat by the Archmage Teclis . Of these, five stand prominent above the rest – Mannfred Von Carstein commands the Legion of Night, while Neferata sits at the head of the Legion of Blood, spinning plots and schemes.*The Rohan Stronghold comes with a veritable village of houses, as well as palisade walls and watchtowers which let you make your very own Rohan settlement. Saving one of the best till last here in the Necromancer. Armed with his trusty staff, Deadwalker wound sponge in Undead Minions and Vanhel’s Danse Macabre you’ve got yourself a model which will appear in a lot of lists. Vanhel’s Danse Macabre being cast on a 6 means it won’t always go off but you’ll be casting it nearly every turn and it lasts until your next hero phase so you can use it with the Skeletons mentioned later to try and pre-empt the enemy coming in and regen more than you otherwise might think you’ll be able to. There’s obviously different build options for some units which may effect final points values, but for the sake of the value breakdown we’re just using the box contents as advertised by Games Workshop. Cado Ezechiar instead is the protagonist of a series of novels from John French entitled The Hollow King. He cannot get any subfaction keyword but his melee profile has rend -2, higher than other vampires, and his signature spell allows either to do mortal wounds to an enemy unit or heal/resurrect friendly Summonable units. Their Finest Hour: can be used only once by each hero to improve save and wound rolls by 1 for that turn.
