Description

It doesn’t have a rear roller so if a striped finish is important to you, you might want to choose another model. Also, the instruction manual isn’t the best. That said, there are instructional videos on YouTube. The Mountfield SP51H is a tough, dependable and easy to use a stylish mower. Self-propelled with power to the rear wheels, there is no need to push, making this an ideal mower for maintaining your lawn with minimal effort, especially if it has slopes. Powered by an industry leading 145cc Honda OHV Autochoke engine, it has a 51cm cutting width and 6 cutting heights ranging from 22-80mm. It is also fitted with a cone clutch transmission (DSC) for smooth acceleration. The SP51H has a deep drawn pressed steel chassis giving superior strength and collecting ability. As I said earlier, topping it up with oil and fuel is also very easy as the filler caps are on top of the engine. The full range of Mountfield petrol mowers are good value for money, and this Mountfield SP53 is no exception. You do get what you pay for with a Mountfield mower, and whilst they may be little more expensive than some cheaper brands they offer peace of mind of owning a mower that will get the job done efficiently and will not let you down. This model represents excellent value for money. Powered by a Mountfield 100cc 4 stroke engine, the HP41 hand propelled lawnmower is ideal for small to medium sized lawns. The engine is very easy to start, with a standard recoil rope system and will give many years of trouble-free mowing.

The Mountfield SP41 is an excellent, self-propelled petrol mower which is fairly cheap but cuts beautifully. Engine: 160cc, 4-stroke; Cutting Width: 51cm; Grass Box Capacity: 60 Litres; Self-Propelled: Yes; Weight: 35kg; Self-Propelled: Yes; Warranty: 2 Years; If you have any questions or have used any Mountfield mower and would like to share your views, please feel free to comment below. If you have a mowing strip at the edges of your lawn, this won’t be an issue as you can just roll the mower right along. If you don’t, you’ll need to finish the edges with edging shears, a strimmer or another edging tool.In summary, I was really impressed with this mower from Mountfield. The assembly and starting process was all hassle free, with no issues. The cut quality was what you would expect from a highly regarded manufacturer. Remember this lawn mower is 51cm wide and weights 34 kg, so it is not suitable for smaller gardens. If however you have a large lawn and the room to store this Mountfield SP53 then it comes highly recommended and should definitely be on your shortlist. Especially if you are considering the option to Mulch your grass cuttings.

It’s well built, easy to start and very reliable. During my test, it worked incredibly well and with three ways of dealing with grass clippings, it’s versatile too. All possible cutting modes are provided for, with a collection bag and mulch plug both included as standard. You can also of course opt for discharge mode instead by removing both items completely. The grass bag itself is massive 60 litres, the perfect accompaniment to the 51 cm cutting length. This will enable to work fast and with minimal interruption. Although having said that the angle at which the grass bag sits does mean the bag won’t fill to maximum capacity before it starts to shed grass rather than collect it, so this is definitely an area for improvement in the design. Also, the wheels are set wider than the cutting width. This means the mower won’t cut right up to the edges. As a result, you’ll need to finish the edges with a grass strimmer or some other edging tool. A: No, the grass box should fit perfectly but please make sure to read the operating manual. Further Reading It’s small, fairly basic, but well priced while at the same time being good quality. 100cc OHV Engine The self-propulsion, driving the blade and the rear wheels, is activated when the user lifts the throttle bar up towards the main bar to engage the clutch.

There is no primer button or manual choke on the ST170. I was not expecting it to start on the first pull of the recoil cord, but was pleasantly surprised when it did. Subsequently, throughout my testing the Mountfield SP53 started first time every time. The level of smoke produced from the engine was minimal, as you would expect from a 4 stroke petrol engine. As an example, my own rear garden is about 15 metres long and 7 metres in width. Multiply those 2 numbers together and you get 105 square metres. Then repeat that process for all your gardens and you will get an approximate square metre size. It was long overdue for me to carry out a review of the Mountfield SP53 self-propelled petrol lawn mower. After testing the smaller brother of this mower ( Mountfield SP41) about a month ago, I wanted to experience and clearly see the difference in power, size and compare the performance and features of both, so you know what mower is the best option for you and your garden. This Mountfield mower is powered by a 100cc overhead valve engine which is easy to start and economical to run. Self-Propelled
