About this deal

Only to be prescribed if there is no alternative (such as a slipper or larger shoe) or if wounds are very heavily leaking and would ruin the patients footwear. Grey / Non-Formulary (undergoing assessment): Work is ongoing and will be reviewed at a future APC meeting. The Kerraped boots are designed in a way that they provide maximum comfort to your foot. These shoes can be worn on either of the foot as a replacement for your regular footwear. The boot has many benefits aside from being a comfortable and light footwear which allows you to reduce pressure on an injured or bandaged foot.

Sharps bins are provided free of charge to patients in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire on prescription. 1 litre bins are usually prescribed, but larger bins can be prescribed for those on long term injections (to allow less frequent collections) or multiple injections (where larger volume of waste is produced). Our body is made such that it divides the weight equally and makes a balance on both our legs that we stand on. However, when even one of the feet or legs are hurt it becomes difficult for a person to make a balance while standing, ending up with putting more pressure on the affected leg. These boots are therapeutic, off-loading footwear which reduces up to 30% of the pressure on your foot leaving you able to walk normally.

There is no such thing as 'Alternative medicine'. Something either works or it doesn't. If any 'alternative medicine' is shown to work they become 'medicines'. Specialist is defined by the APC as a clinician who has undertaken an appropriate formal qualification or recognised training programme within the described area of practice and has a working experience and knowledge within a speciality area

NUH: Approved by NHS England for specialist centre use only, in accordance with NICE HST14 for treating lipodystrophy. NUH to refer patients to specialist centre (Addenbrooke's).
