About this deal

When Hannah Saunders walked into the den and pitched her baby skincare business to the dragons tonight, the dragons really admired her entrepreneurial spirit. With three vying for her attention, Saunders eventually decided on the Bartlett/Meaden combo. The BBC show in the UK has been broadcasting since January 2005. It allows several entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their varying business ideas to a panel of five wealthy investors, the “Dragons” of the show’s title, and pitch for financial investment while offering a stake of the company in return. But who were the alcohol drinks brands that stepped up to the Den? The ultimate inspiration is to make people feel the happiness of enjoying a glass of chilled wine on a lovely summer’s day but with a lower-alcohol content and additional botanical benefits, so drinkers can unwind without any of the unwanted after-effects. What makes Floreat a perfect tipple on our Spa menu? Former village pub landlord Paul Stanley, failed to secure investment from the Dragons in episode 1 of series 17 for his Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum. The product is made with rum from Guyana and Trinidad and is produced in Chorley. It is a blend of rum made from the wooden pot still at the Diamond Distillery in Guyana where it is part aged in bourbon casks and caramelised, and blended with a lighter column still rum from Trinidad. Then infused with a mysterious concoction of natural spices, including cloves, star anise and cassia bark. The whole of the green plant is used and is harvested in the summer months. It is often found in sandy soils which are naturally high in silica.

Diving through The Independent archives, it appears Westerman actually wrote an article for the travel section about how to prevent DVT a couple of years ago.No, these aren’t “plastic bras for travel” as Peter Jones put it. This is the RBR legflow from Paul Westerman’s company RBR Active, a medical device aimed at preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Westerman went away happy tonight, successfully securing Suleyman’s cash for a 35 per cent share of the business.

The story began at Anne-Marie's kitchen table, where she lovingly chose a unique blend of biodynamic herbs. The result is a beautifully balanced bouquet and flavour. Anne-Marie, Founder of Floreat, worked in the drinks industry for Diageo across many drinks brands and explored the reasons why people wanted to drink alcoholic wine; often this was to relax, unwind, be sociable and enjoy the moment. As a qualified medical herbalist, she then realised that the feelings people were looking for when they opened a bottle could be genuinely provided by the herbs used in Floreat! Light and fresh from the first moment, summer scents immediately raise the spirits, sparkles bring a sense of festivity, the crisp and zesty mouthfeel languishes into a complex body with tones of stone fruit and citrus emerging towards the finish. More about Floreat Series 20 has finished airing in the UK in 2023 and I have tried to add any drinks brands as they appeared on the show…up to episode 14! German-born Max Rüther from O’Donnell Moonshine came to the Dragons’ Den in episode 8 of season 19 to bring his handmade spirits from Manchester, inspired by the bygone age of American Prohibition. The name comes from the leader of one of the most infamous Moonshine gangs in Chicago – Mr Spike O’Donnell.Floreat is a sparkling, lower-alcohol botanic wine that’s the first in its field. Our ambition was to create the same sensation and joy you experience with wine but with beautiful tasting premium herbs in a lower alcohol drink. Two and a third glasses of Floreat are equivalent to a single glass of champagne. Floreat takes is name from the Latin “to flourish” with the golden leaf on the bottle symbolising the precious plant ingredients used in every glass. Where did the story of Floreat first begin?

From the Latin ‘to flourish’, each bottle of Floreat is expertly blended with our exclusive selection of herbs, minerals and active botanicals to create a sparkling wine that maximises enjoyment, eases stress and supports your body. The RBR legflow is a plastic two-dome shaped object that sits underneath your feet and you perform exercises on it while seated. According to the company, it has been Clinically-tested to increase blood flow in the lower limbs ten fold, and is registered with the Medicines Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Founders Vaani and Keeran appeared on episode 2 of season 19 of the show, looking for investment in their beer targeted at women, created to change perceptions that beer should only be drunk by men. However, due in part to their high product price relative to competitors, the couple were not able to secure investment from the dragons. Other benefits include its gentle mood and vitality boosting traits, it’s vegan, it’s low in calories and yet high in biodynamic botanicals and minerals, and some consumers experience increased quality of sleep due to its low 5.4% alcoholic content. Floreat has been designed to simulate feelings of wellbeing and mindful living - a perfect accompaniment to any spa experience.

I got bored of selling, cheap mass marketed corporate rum with a fake Caribbean history and standard vanilla flavourings, so I decided to make my own.” Paul Stanley Kate Darracott and her husband and co-owner Graham Darracott appeared on episode 6 of season 18 and although they left the den with some new customers, no investment was forthcoming from the dragons. For any drinks brands wanting to take part in the programme, they have also created a blog post on ‘ How to apply to be on Dragon’s Den‘.
