About this deal

I am in no hurry to have a face-to-face bridge session. However when all of the nation have had their first vaccination, the risks should be minimal. That should be in the summer. (The risks are lower in the summer.) <Ⓜ#6> None of this would have happened if players had waited for the Director to speak, and listened closely to what she said, before they looked at what they presumed were theircards. Some of your data will be available for use by Bridgewebs who are acting as a Data Processor on our behalf. They are not free to pass this on to other organisations that are not connected with Cobham-Heath Bridge Club. The chairman's report was presented posthumously in written form. In summary: The Club had been on the verge of being wound up, due in part to the threat of legal action by a member. Due to the committee's diligence, the threat has passed. A revised constitution was approved to enable every aspect of the Club's operations to be worked on by the committee. The Club has been returned to its former strength. The new committee should have no problem in continuing the good work. The number of volunteer directors and scorers needs to increase. Compulsory host duty has been re-introduced. All Club volunteers should be thanked. 5. Treasurer’s Report

Ensure alcohol-based hand sanitiser is available. All members should use it before sitting at a table.' <Ⓜ#7> I don’t have any great suggestions other than having online Claygate Bridge Club tournaments but that would involve you in a lot of work! <Ⓜ#9> Each player should be given the option of either proving they been vaccinated or taking a test on arrival. <Ⓜ#7> They will be aimed at novices who have received some tuition and are looking to move on to a club bridge. Ensure alcohol-based hand sanitiser is available. All members should use it before sitting at a table. <Ⓜ#7>I have been a volunteer in a care home for the last eight months, where the infection rate has been extremely low, and in fact there have been no positive cases for nearly two months. I have made some recommendations below, based on the safety and infection control training I received there.' <Ⓜ#25> Adoption of the Treasurer's Report was proposed by Nigel Barnes, and seconded by Phil Chan. Approved nem con. 6. Approval of Audited Accounts

Online bridge is fine but it doesn’t compare with the face-to-face experience and a lot of the members rely on the club as a very important part of their social life as you know. <Ⓜ#9> I think that keeping our distance at the table as far as possible should suffice, especially if we wear masks and use plenty of sanitiser.' <Ⓜ#16> Absolutely beggars belief. Who on earth could be bothered to go through all that palaver and still end up being accused of spreading the virus?' <Ⓜ#13> However I am in the cautious camp and still have some concerns about where we shall be in September vis-a-vis Covid. The coming few weeks are probably the safest time but I would prefer to wait a little longer to see how things pan out.' <Ⓜ#19> We will be merging our BBO sessions on 1st and 3rd Fridays with Watford and Bushey Bridge Club from Friday 20 October 2023 to get larger numbers of tables, after consultation with members. On BBO, look for "Watford and Harlow Knights" as the session name to join. We hope you will enjoy them! One point of course is if we leave too long, may risk migration to other clubs and would be interesting to see what other clubs plan to do. <Ⓜ#3> Given the main use of the centre, if the local government authority is prepared to have it open all day, every day for the more vulnerable, I don't see why we should worry.' <Ⓜ#2> On one evening of the year, the sexes partition. Male pairs compete for the Christopher Blundell trophy, and female pairs compete for the Lisa Hill trophy. Unsure re. mandatory masks. Depends on situation at the time. To begin with they would give extra protection and reassurance.' <Ⓜ#11>

Claygate bridge club are always looking for new members especially young new members. Bridge clubs need new life bringing into them, so young students coming out of college or university are perfect people to enlist at a bridge club. Bridge is a brilliant pastime that helps stimulate the mind, as a consequence the mechanics in the game can keep a dialogue going for hours on just one hand alone! The Day Centre has plenty of windows—although it may be necessary to err on the side of cryogenesis to begin with!' <Ⓜ#16> Online bridge is fine but it doesn’t compare with the face-to-face experience and a lot of the members rely on the club as a very important part of their social life.' <Ⓜ#9> If screens are available, I guess we could try using them. If not, we could expand the play area to space between the tables. <Ⓜ#7>
