I Read Brutal Prince Based On Recommendations From “The Book Refuge,” And I Saw That Many People Concentrated On Reading It During The Mafia Read-a-thon That Took Place This Past Month. In All Honesty, I’ll Admit That This Book Was Sometimes Absurd And That I Almost Gave Up On It. I Believe What Kept Me Interested In The Story Was The Family’s Central Theme And The Character Of The Hero. I Had A Lot Of Trouble With This Heroine Because, To Put It Mildly, She Was Spoiled And A Brat. WTF is this? When I say Mafia romance I mean Mafia not Saved by the Bell amateur hour. This was my first attempt with Sophie Lark and I've heard a lot about this series in particular. But I don't know, going off of this her writing and characters are just not for me. The first red flag was that this is written in 1st person POV but in present tense which is really hard to get used to and you have to be a strong writer to pull it off. Unfortunately Lark is not a strong writer and her characters do not make you forget this annoying writing style. Or maybe this was just a case of a bad book for me. This felt more new adult than adult. I'm probably being harsher than necessary since I'm in a bad mood but this pissed me off. The Gold Coast’s Downtown. A fight between Sebastian and the bodyguard soon begins with Sebastian taking a beating from the man who “looks like a boxer.”
For the rest of the book, she was okay. I never really loved her throughout the book but I didn’t hate her either he is a brooding, polish, grumpy blondie with A LOT of tattoos, she is a sunshine ballerina who brings out the best of him 🫠💘This girl has no idea how easy she is to read. She’s never learned to put up walls, to protect herself. She’s as vulnerable as a bed of tulips. I intend to stomp through her garden, ripping the blossoms from the ground one by one." He is egoistic, and ambitious, and would not let anything serve as a form of distraction for him or get in his way. As the heir to Griffin’s family, he has a reputation to uphold and he is more concerned about his upcoming elections than anything else. We all want to know our players in this game, don’t we?
