About this deal

The difference between a “beginner / intermediate” mouthpiece and a “professional” mouthpiece is the size of the gap between the tip and the reed. I have at times playtested horns using both 4C's and 5C's here....I don't have both now because usually I will sell them with the horns I sell...and my recollection is I like how the 5C blows a bit more, and that it does produce a slightly wider tone.

No matter what your age (suits ages 10 – 110), the Yamaha 4C Alto Sax mouthpiece will give you a nice sound, will be easy to play and will allow you to get the most out of your beginners saxophone. Not all mouthpieces come in different sizes, though, so you’ll need to go with the standard size. But if a mouthpiece you like comes in a few sizes, try them all if you can. The combination of a cheap saxophone and a cheap mouthpiece becomes a battle and a potentially bad experience.

Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece Overview

One of the easiest ways to improve your sound is to upgrade your alto sax mouthpiece. You can find dozens of options online and in music stores, so it can be hard to know what to choose.

Some mouthpieces come with a ligature and cap, but others don’t. If you already have a ligature you like, you might not want a mouthpiece that comes with one. The Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece is constructed of phenol resin plastic, which is safe and long-lasting. It is also a high-quality mouthpiece because it is made with Yamaha’s advanced manufacturing procedures. This material is quite resilient, and it will last for years if used regularly. You can choose from a variety of facings, but it doesn’t say how the facings differ. Still, it can be a good choice for anyone who plays classical music a lot. Pros Taking the distance between the mouthpiece tip and the reed and multiplying it by two, you will find the size of the tip opening. As a saxophonist, this is one of those characteristics that allow you to improvise freely. The greater the tip opening, the greater the sense of flexibility you have in play. Tip opening can make the sound brighter when it is larger, depending on how it is set up. Many beginners end up buying a cheap(er) saxophone than the one they might ultimately end up with. I understand this – it makes sense to not spend too much money on an instrument that you or your child may not end up using for very long. You don’t have to spend hundreds on a good mouthpiece. Just research the brand if you haven’t heard of it to make sure you’ll get a good product. Materials
