Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled. Leave it at a local civic waste collection point. Where can I buy accessories, consumables or spare parts for my appliance? No, leave the iron to cool down before putting it away and follow the 4 tips: empty out the water remaining in the tank, set the thermostat to the minimum, close the steam control and stand it upright or place it on the base (depending model). You are filling the tank with the "Dry/Steam" control set to Steam – it needs to be in the "Dry" position.

It has a generous 300ml water tank. The water level is quite visible, so you know when to top it up. The anti-drip function saves your clothes from water spots. Your iron gets charged within 30 seconds and takes 7 seconds to recharge. You can control the temperature settings according to the fabric being pressed. The highest temperature level available is 220°C. See the instructions for use to find out what type of water is appropriate and clean the soleplate from time to time with a damp sponge. What is the right temperature for my clothes? We absolutely love the design of the Tefal cordless iron – it’s the only one on our list with a horizontal charging base that you simply slide the iron onto. This makes it far more stable than any other cordless iron we’ve reviewed. It also sits well in the hand thanks to a well-designed handle and glides effortlessly over fabrics. The Freemove has a separate button underneath the handle for normal steam and one on the top for a steam boost. Continuous steam flows at 30g/min and there’s an impressive steam boost shot of 190g/min. The Tefal has the smallest water tank at 250ml, though, so will need refilling more frequently.

The best cordless irons to buy in 2023

It features an anti-calc and anti-drip design, which prolongs its life. It saves your iron from calcium build-up which can negatively affect its performance.

This cordless iron has a 2 in 1 function; meaning that its heating base allows for both corded and cordless use. The selected temperature is too low to use this function: set the thermostat to the zone between 3 dots and MAX. It emits 20g of steam per minute and utilizes 2400W of power. The steam is generated within 25 to 40 seconds. Or, you have over-filled your iron – do not go beyond the "MAX" level on the tank. The iron doesn't glide very easily. No, you must always unplug the iron before filling it. How can I avoid scratching the soleplate of my iron?A permanent anti-calc filter is present in the water tank that softens hard water and prevents scaling. The "supersteam" or "turbo" function should not be used intensively – wait a few seconds between pressing the button. Why does my iron release steam once the tank is filled? Whether it is Pima cotton or a delicate silk blouse, the Nano coated CeraGlide ceramic soleplate glides smoothly and effortlessly over fabrics. Wrinkles will disappear in no time without applying much pressure. Not all of the steam holes release steam, the smaller holes on the soleplate that look like they might be steam holes are actually designed to assist soleplate glide ability. Why isn't the spray function on my iron working? There is not enough water in the tank. Fill it up with the quantity indicated in the instructions for use and push spray button several times to fill the system complete. The indicator light keeps going on and off.

The self-cleaning function to stop scale building up is clever too – just select the self-clean button and hold it over a bowl to allow water and steam to wash scale and dust out of the soleplate. This works, but it does take time, so I’d have to say I prefer the in-built filter of the Tefal Pure iron as a point of comparison. R It’s fully charged in 11 seconds and will give you around 30 seconds of ironing time at once. When power gets low, a smart light and beep will alert you to the fact the iron needs recharging. We felt that the iron’s charge didn’t last quite as long as some other brands, but this is still a high-quality iron that does an excellent job of zipping over fabrics and removing creases, but perhaps just not the best for big loads.

The iron feels sturdy and is well made, as you would no doubt expect from Russell Hobbs. We particularly liked the base, which illuminates with different colours to display when the iron is heating, ready for use or recharging. It’s also easy to get on and off the base for recharging. As a bonus, it comes with good, clear instructions on the iron as well as in the separate booklet. Heat up time is just 30 seconds from cold, with an advertised recharge time of five seconds. although we noticed it did take slightly longer than this to recharge fully. It also stayed hot for longer than many of the other models, coming in second only to the JML. The appliance uses 2400W power and takes just half a minute to get hot. The steam generation rate of the iron is 120g per minute, heating up in just 30 seconds. An affordable 2 in 1 cordless iron with a tower can outperform pretty much any other irons, which are even more expensive than it!

This is not only to avoid overheating of the iron or the surface on which it is placed but also to ensure that no-one gets burned. If safety is one of your main concerns, choose an iron that has an automatic cut-off function. An anti-drip feature will stop water from leaking onto your ironing. Some models also have anti-scale and anti-calc features, alongside a self-clean mode – all useful but not essential. The iron’s handle lights up to indicate charging status and takes around 40 seconds to charge from cold. Although it holds its heat for a fair amount of time, it takes a lengthy 25 seconds to recharge once it’s cooled down, which might not be ideal if you’ve got a pile of ironing to get through. If your water is very hard, we recommend that you use a maximum of 50% untreated tap water and 50% distilled water available in most shops. Again, the auto-shut off function provides peace of mind; and a ceramic sole plate means it glides smoothly. You can also use it for vertical steaming, on clothes which are hanging up, as well as on your ironing board. With 2600w of power, it doesn’t get quite as hot and steamy as the Tefal Ultimate Pure – but I liked the spray nozzle and option to use a 210g steam shot to get rid of entrenched creases (although you have to wait four seconds between each shot).Another function this cordless iron offers is self-clean, removing limescale and calc, and the iron’s durable use. Moreover, this press includes a ceramic soleplate for smooth float overall textures, making your pressing chores soft and comfortable.
