Description

The HP Omen 27i monitor is certified as G-SYNC Compatible by NVIDIA, so you can expect flawless VRR performance up to 165FPS. The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video. Another advantage of IPS technology is the 178° wide viewing angles, which ensure that the image is consistent regardless of the angle you’re looking at the screen; there are no shifts in brightness, contrast, gamma, or color at skewed angles.

Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. Power supply and consumption Information about the power supply and consumption, energy efficiency class, etc. 220V We've already mentioned most of the specs of the HP Omen 27i gaming monitor, and when you actually start using it, it doesn't disappoint. Colours are well managed, brightness is perfectly fine (though a maximum level of 350 nits isn't the best you'll find on the market), and lag and ghosting is non-existent from what we could tell. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. If you have an AMD graphics card, you can clamp the gamut via the Radeon software, but this feature isn’t available for NVIDIA GPUs.

If you are using a variable refresh rate (VRR), be it AMD FreeSync or NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, and your frame rate is fluctuating a lot, the Level 1 setting provides more consistent performance across the entire refresh rate range since it still looks very good at 165Hz/FPS. The stand on the HP OMEN 27i is attractive and robust, but it only offers tilt and height adjustments. It shouldn’t be an issue for most users, but it can limit your options if in case you want to build a multi-monitor setup. You can opt for VESA mounts, but that will add to the already higher cost of this model versus the competition.

First, the Omen 27i occasionally forgets settings I’ve chosen, like my preferred color profile, response time and refresh rate. I have found that HP’s Omen Command Center app greatly helps in this regard. Ever since I registered my preferences in the app, my experience with the monitor has been far more consistent. But every now and then, I'll need to remind the Omen 27i again, after it resets itself to a state as if it had just been taken out of the box. Besides, a monitor shouldn’t require the use of a desktop app to preserve settings at all. I’m very happy I took the plunge. This monitor is brilliant. There are a few things that annoy me about it, and I’ll get into those a little later. Overall, though, it’s everything I could have asked for.

The HP Omen 27i is a 27″ 1440p 165Hz IPS gaming monitor with a fast 1ms GtG pixel response time speed and a wide 98% DCI-P3 color gamut for both responsive and immersive gaming experience. Image Quality For the same price, you can get the MSI MAG274QRF-QD with a wider Adobe RGB color gamut, dedicated sRGB and DCI-P3 color modes, MBR support, and a slightly higher contrast ratio. The supported VRR range is 48-165Hz over DisplayPort for AMD/NVIDIA cards and 48-144Hz over HDMI for AMD cards. Design is always a subjective call, but we quite like the angular, curve-free look of the Omen 27i monitor, and we think that a lot of other people will as well. The device is simple to configure and easy to set up, and the majority of users are going to do just fine using the calibration settings that the display has out of the box.The energy efficiency class/label provides general idea about the power consumption. There are different energy efficiency classes and each sets its own requirements regarding the power consumption. Some of the existent energy efficiency classes are A+++, A++, A+, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Manually adjusting the settings provided can improve the dE average to 2.16 which is considerably better, but a colorimeter can get as low as 0.64. of course, we wouldn’t recommend spending the extra on the latter, since you can simply tweak the monitor to balance out its errors. The colorimeter will only be necessary for editing or content creation applications where the best possible color fidelity will be worth it. The proportions are modest on the HP OMEN 27i, but what expands its total depth is the awkward diamond shape or position of the stand’s base. The device needs ten inches of depth, but its probably the most unintrusive since the bottom is thin and flat. It is slightly heavier at 17 pounds than some of its competitors, but that extra weight is attributed to its full metal stand. On the Omen 27i, you get a pixel density of ~108 PPI (pixels per inch), which translates to plenty of screen real estate with sharp details and text – and no scaling necessary.
