Shortly after the MSRA testing window has closed, your MSRA result will be available within your Oriel account against your application shortlist scores. For the January 2024 exam, results are expected by 9 February 2024. How is the MSRA scored? After sitting the exam, it was apparent that Emedica is the most representative out of all the MSRA question banks that I have encountered – this is in terms of question style, exam format, and areas of knowledge tested. Although I left the exam not feeling very confident and began to lose hope of getting into my top choice this year, I had scored 623 (305 in the Professional Dilemmas section, and 318 in the Clinical Problem Solving section) – securing band 4 in both, ranking 19th out of 6533 GP candidates that passed and securing a spot in Salford/Trafford to start GPST1 in August 2022. As the msra scores are being released, I thought it might be helpful to write down briefly how everyone revised and scored, since I searched for this a lot while I was revising to decide on which question banks to use. Yes, I meant MSRA, not MRSA – although sometimes it can feel like a superbug...The MSRA (Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment) is part of the selection process for entering GP training, as well as several different postgraduate medical specialties. To become a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), and gain entry to the GMC GP Register so you can begin applying for jobs, you must first pass the RCGP exams including MSRA.

Every time you answer a question in the Medibuddy MSRA question bank you will be shown if your answer is correct or incorrect, with a detailed explanation, which is a really useful tool for your revision. The question bank is adaptive, which means you get a personalised learning experience, so every question you answer has been selected specifically for you to improve your score. The premise of the exam is to test the individual’s ability to apply their medical knowledge, not just recall their knowledge. It is split into two parts: Professional Dilemmas and Clinical Problem Solving, both independently timed.

Please note: currently, all MSRA invitations will be for MSRAs delivered within a Pearson VUE test centre; however, once you receive your invitation, you can apply for a remote test ‘by exception’ if you meet the criteria set to do so. Requests for remote examinations are assessed and approved on a case-by-case basis. You can find out more remote testing for the MSRA here. MSRA Exam Dates 2024 Half of the questions in the CPS paper are extended matching questions (EMQs) and half are single best answers (SBA). EMQs feature sets of 7-10 answer options, each with multiple associated questions. For each question, candidates must choose the most appropriate answer option from the set. For example, candidates may be asked to select the most appropriate drugs, from a list, to prescribe to several different patients. The CAMHS posts available then also got cut down from 6 to only 1. Management (non-Prescribing)– Advising, authorising or reviewing a patient’s clinical management plan – specifically the use of non drug-related treatment. The CPS paper tests five main competencies: investigation, diagnosis, emergency, prescribing and management (non-prescribing). 1 The questions are posed in straightforward language and do not test knowledge that is specific to certain areas to ensure fairness for all candidates.
