We receive many referrals from neonatologists, paediatricians, GPs and midwives to see babies and children born with differences to their hands. Emergency surgery for hand injuries and infections The hand therapy team provides a regional service to deal with a wide range of complex hand injuries. Common hand conditions we treat include: Secondary repairs may occur 2 to 5 weeks or longer after the injury. They may include tendon grafts. This is when tendons from other areas of the body are inserted in place of the damaged tendon. Or other more complex procedures may be used.
