About this deal

For 1.8.0, we are integrating support for streamlined audio features of the PlayAUDIO12. This includes full failover control, headphone mixing, and other controls. PeteYeah, port renaming for Windows was the entire reason I got into the iConnectivity ecosphere in the first place. Sure would be nice if Microsoft might be able to make some inroads into the Windows MIDI subsystems for little details like native port renaming (wink wink, nudge nudge ) ETA: My brain was misremembering on the Mio10 - USB 1-4 is a port to DAW while 5-10 were a single port in the DAW. iConnectivity's mioXL USB MIDI Interface is a versatile device that can be used to connect up to 22 devices simultaneously. It has an array of networked ports, including ones equipped with built in sound cards so you don't need any additional software or hardware--they're ready for use right out the box. Connect all your MIDI devices (USB-MIDI, DIN-MIDI, Ethernet-MIDI) to each other and Mac, PC, and iOS computing devices and let this rugged, versatile interface put you in control of your MIDI devices and workflow.

It's never been more simple to connect all your MIDI gear and get them talking to each other. The power of the network connectivity means you can experience the next level of MIDI control. The processing power provides efficient powering and connection between all your MIDI devices - this makes it ideal for large synthesizer setups where you have plenty of instruments to get working together. It doesn't matter if you play on stage or in the studio, the mioMX gives you everything you need to make setup completely easy. You can even connect it up to your DAW with preset naming schemes and easy recall of settings. It is a great option for musicians who need to work from far away. It's equipped with an Ethernet connection, which can extend your range up to 330' - perfect if you're at one end of the room and want something else on stage or recording. On the second Photo, you'll notice that when I rename a DIN--that the DIN information is permanently lost. This is WHY I used masking tape to mark off my devices on the unit. Because once you plug in your gear, the unit itself only reports the DIN numbers on the front panel. You can save yourself trouble by adding the number or the DIN to the name, but your max character limit is 15, so abbreviate carefully. This problem could be solved by some hardcoded "soft text" that surrounds each DIN section in the UI, so no matter what your name is, you can readily see "ah yeah, that's DIN 7." The box includes 1X mioXL, a USB cable to connect it all together and power for your XL device (batteries are not included), as well as an Ethernet connection that will be used if needed. Software-wise, we found it easy to navigate and figure out on our own with little help from others who may know more than us.With mioXL™ you’re able to streamline and expand your MIDI setup, no matter how massive and demanding. Even though it’s our most powerful MIDI interface, mioXL™ is still accessible to all users, allowing you to do whatever you want with MIDI faster, better, and in creative and exciting new ways. iConnectivity’s next generation RTP/Network- MIDI capabilities, and what they’ll do for you. New to mioXL : store and recall up to 32 presets directly on the interface, without even needing a computer! mioX-series marks our concerted commitment towards network technology as the future of inter-device communication. Well, we say the future, but we’ve already been incorporating Network/RTP-MIDI technology in our interfaces for some years now! Network technology itself has been around for decades…. Network connections offer some significant advantages over USB, for example. Cat5/6 cables allow for huge connection distances; over 90 meters between devices! Compare that with 15 metres for DIN-MIDI and only 5 meters with USB and it’s clear to see the advantages for studio and stage. Perhaps the biggest advantage with network connectivity is the ability to connect multiple devices on a network. Networking allows multiple connected devices to share data with each other; it’s a much more flexible way of working than the USB paradigm of Device => Host. Now multiple computers and peripherals can seamlessly talk to each other all over the same lines.

Performance Optimized - A MIDI interface that works too slowly is useless. mioXC uses a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex processor, ensuring dense MIDI and SysEx streams are managed with ease. Names of port categories have been revised to be both clearer and closer to what was used in iConfig and Auracle. Driver Compatibility - Interfaces that use their own drivers have to be updated all the time, or they stop working properly. Likewise some designs were USB Class-Compliant years ago, but today they aren't anymore. We engineer our drivers to today's strict guidelines, and keep them updated, to ensure compatibility for years to come. I have been using the mio10 units since they came out, and they were not bad (better than the MOTU XTs I replaced them with). There were some growing pains, and advanced configuration of them (including network MIDI) was painful using the original iConfig utility. The Auracle software helped "normal" users who were not trying to do anything complex, but more advanced config still required the iConfig utility which is difficult to use at best...there were promises that the Auracle software would replace it for advanced config, but that has yet to materialize and they have moved the older mio devices to "legacy" status as of a few months ago when they launched the mioXL. When it works, it works; offers extraordinary routing options and opportunities. The hardware feels solidly built and touch-screen adjustment make the smallish display surprisingly versatile. There's a generous amount of physical input & output and my studio still has room to grow even with all the DIN & USB gadgets connected. It's not cheap but it certainly seems good value for money.Use your 22 network MIDI ports anyway you want. Connect each of the 22 RTP-MIDI sessions to any combination of physical or virtual I/O ports. Almost any combination is possible. Modern USB Connectivity - Equipped with both USB Type-C and USB Type-A connectivity, mioXC lets you enjoy easy connectivity with most modern computing devices. To their credit, IConnectivity offers very communicative, robust support system staffed with people who really seem to know their stuff.
