Despite claiming to provide gentle exfoliation to the lips, I do not notice any gritty or bumpy texture. Instead, the formula glides across the lips quite nicely. There is one more thing about Glow Recipe that doesn’t sit quite right with me, and it’s that for a Korean American brand, they do very little to uplift Asian American voices and might as well not be AAPI-founded. Their most recent PR influencer trip had but one token Asian American influencer. SheaMoisture would never. If you pay attention to Glow Recipe’s marketing, you can tell that the major influencers they choose to officially work with (and actually pay) are…not Asian American. They hardly invite any AAPI creators to their big PR trips and choose to align with creators like Alix Earle and similar people instead.

Like most brands, Glow Recipe heavily emphasizes the benefits of ingredients that aren’t the top ingredients used in the Lip Pop formula. However watermelon & coconut extracts are in the top half of ingredients listed in the formula.
The Watermelon Glow Lip Pop comes in a whimsical looking light pink tube. In terms of the color, the blush pink perfectly matches to the rest of the brand’s Watermelon range. While the Lip Pop ingredient list includes fragrance, the formula is free of Parabens, Mineral Oil, Sulfates, Phthalates, and Drying Alcohol. Finally, Glow Recipe is a K-Beauty brand that is considered one of the most popular and trendy clean skincare brands. In fact, the brand is certified clean at Sephora. Today, Glow Recipe brings in multiple 7 figures annually and is sold at Sephora stores. The Glow Recipe founders Sarah Lee and Christine Chang utilize the Korean skincare industry’s know-how with actives popular in the US (niacinamide, acids, retinol) to make fruit-powered skincare for all.

I feel that Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum is one of Glow Recipe’s best products because of its innovative formulation. Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum feels hydrating, silky and pleasant in all the ways you want your hyaluronic serum to feel, but I’m most impressed by the ingredients chosen. Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum contains five molecular weights of next-generation hyaluronic acid. The formula further impresses with the addition of Kakadu Plum which has the highest source of natural Vitamin C in the world, vegan collagen and vegan silk protein. As the watermelon toner contains a combination of BHA and AHA, we would always advise introducing this slowly with other actives, especially if using other brands alongside Glow Recipe. However, this pairs perfectly with niacinamide so that you can layer with full confidence. That peppermint-flavored toothpaste might wake you up when you brush your teeth in the A.M., but it’s not doing your lips any favors. “Common triggers [for chapped lips] are flavored toothpaste — including the cinnamon and the mint flavors,” says Dr. Allawh. “These contain common allergens, which may trigger a skin rash and dry, peeling lips.” Switch to one that’s not flavored or, if that doesn’t exactly sound appealing, be sure to apply a lip balm ASAP after rinsing.
