Description

From the beginning, and throughout the middle of the book, you are overburdened with useless information. Something very annoying that I noticed right from the start was that this author has a tendency to end an alarming number of sentences with an exclamation point! This over-use of exclamation points mostly applies to Keira during her internal monologues! This makes her seem like a thirteen year old drama queen, not an intelligent and artistic history major in her early twenties! Completely uncalled-for exclamation points are all over the place! I am not exaggerating! Sometimes they turned up at the end of a sentence during an actual conversation and then it just made the characters sound stupid! It was like following a conversation between two extreme idiots! Why can’t Draven and Lucius with their councils overcome a spell apparently created by one witch? They’re supposed to be the most powerful supernatural beings on earth. It’s highly unlikely that any one person could circumvent their magical abilities. Nevertheless it made for a pretty good storyline.

So, honestly, this bullshit about her just dismissing what she sees and experiences got old REALLY fast. I was annoyed with how the American characters in this book did not sound American at all. They sounded just as English as Keira. This really ruffled my feathers. Why bother making this take place in a country that you have no idea how to show a reflection of? Once again I loved this book and can't wait for the next. I got to see another side of Draven that I haven't seen in any of the other books and although I was a bit confused of the whole 'Katie is actually Keira' concept, I was still loving every moment of this journey. However what I did not like about this book particularly is that now it seems everyone will soon have an electus and that Vincent was willing to just throw Katie/Keira into danger to save his own chosen one (who btw he has never met before) I liked how in the other books every man she meets sorta falls in love with her and Vincent was one of those men, he loved Keira but I guess not very much due to his actions. I forgive him though, my loves in this book is Draven and Lucius. The contradictions made little sense all together and made it extremely difficult to follow the story. At first Kiera loves her sister's house, next thing she say's it's creepy. She moved to give herself a 'new life' away from her past, and her scars, describing how people take extra care around her because she is emotionally fragile. But, the emotional fragility is nowhere in sight, as her mind is focused on gossip and trivial nonsense, like outfits and clubbing. When it focuses on something else it's on a guy. Kiera in one chapter loves hiking and the outdoors, in the next chapter is a clumsy person that isn't focused on physical exertion. She is this fragile flower, and an introvert that also leaves her phone number to the first person she meets, and goes clubbing. She is supposed to be shy and socially awkward, but then gets a job working nights as a waitress in the hottest club in town. See where i am going with this? How the hell am i supposed to know who is this character, if the author herself had no idea???I still have my fingers cross that certain men I’m thus series get their own books and happy ever after because they most definitely deserve someone they can’t have

Okay, I thought I was gonna start this review by ranting about my dislike for Keira but I decided to start out with... HOLY CLIFFHANGER! I need to know who the traitor is, like right now! I am dying! Of course, some deserve it more than most but if I felt nothing then who would I be? Where would be my balance? Good does not exist without the evil and right does not hold weight without knowing the wrong. Things start to take a monumental turn when Lucius up’s the stakes in his mind games. By controlling her dreams he threatens the promise that Kiera will soon belong to him – his quest for revenge on his nemesis is vital in his plan, and yet his power has the ability to wield Kiera into keeping quiet, and therefore making her unable to voice her troubles to Dominic, who is the only one that can protect her… Dominic the love interest was your basic asshole with good intentions. He is extremely sexy and dangerous. Being the king he is used to being obeyed and acts really quite spoiled when Keira refuses, especially as her association with him could possibly endanger her life. Their arguments were very intense and enjoyable at times I really did like it when Keira stood her ground. His brother Vincent is also very sexy and dangerous. Their sister Sophia is beautiful but spoiled and she loves Keira. Some of the other side characters were pretty interesting though. This book is an investment and I'm not just talking about the cost of purchasing it, which I hasten to add is an absolute bargain for the kindle considering how long this book is, and yes, I am talking about the length here, it's a marathon read and one that if I'm honest, starts a little on the slow side. However, please don't let that deter you because this book is absolutely BLOODY Brilliant.

Immerse yourself in a captivating world of love, magic, and danger with “Afterlife: Dark Fantasy Romance”, the first book in the Afterlife Saga. This enthralling story takes you on a thrilling journey where supernatural creatures, forbidden romance, and heart-stopping adventures await. With its unique blend of dark fantasy and romance, this book promises to keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. A Gripping Plot Stephanie Hudson showed me again, that she is a fantastic author who not only has a brilliant world-building, she creates the most generating, heartbreaking and beautiful scenes. She creates a romance that makes you want to cry of happiness and you can practically FEEL the aches and love. And she creates the most amazing fight scenes. You really do get transported into this world of Demons and Angels and...well..Draven, who is a mix of both - the King himself. And he is truly magnificent! :) Awww please write this man’s book and give him his own chosen one please I beg you .... he deserves it so much And I must admit, it's been amazing! Now, I felt that the book started a weeee bit slow. It had a bit of a slow burn to it, a lot of secrets...mystery... what was Kiera's past...? And so forth. The Author still keeps us in the dark for as to why Kiera, and many many things is left unexplained.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I admittedly skimmed alot of the descriptions and feelings as the author does tend to go on a bit and repeat herself on certain things, with a minor adjustment... Also wasn't keen on the new sister appearing felt a bit Dawn/Buffy which put me off that t.v series.... hence the 4 stars. Dominic Draven is the secretive owner of a nightclub called Afterlife, his reputation precedes him.... no one really knows much about him or his family, they tend to turn up for a couple of weeks here and there and they have like a cult following. I did not finish this book because when Kiera started to sob and cry for the millionth time, I could not go on. Okay, there's more that I can say that I couldn't stand about Keira and Dom but I don't think I would be able to finish this review if I listed them all. Wow, this was an epic read in more ways than one!! I loved the story line revolving around a human girl, Keira, who finds herself immersed in a Prophecy, involving Angels, Demons, Fate and goodness knows what else!!!
