About this deal

Additional comment since the review: the more I think of this book, the angrier I get. I now feel the author is a fraud, even if he believes what he is saying. Kind of like a Billy Graham. Can't believe he was invited to give a TED Talk. Has diminished the Talks in my eyes. It actually made me angry that the author didn’t record it and/or offer any proof for it: if he is onto something so life-changing it’s his duty to show proof of it so that more people can get that kind of help. A wheelchair-bound woman suffering from crippling multiple sclerosis who healed herself and reversed her condition just by the power of meditation. I hope i can continue with all this because it is awesome. Sometimes we give up after a while. I hope i won't. It will also, however, try to sell you some things that you shouldn't unconsciously buy into. I think Joe Dispenza is dangerously into the territory he accuses doctors of unknowingly misusing - the reader is suggestible due to their faith in the book's message, and he takes advantage of this.

Dr. Joe Despenza talks about the new science of epigenetics. Meaning, we can change our DNA based on our thoughts and environment. Every thought we think is signaling our genes to express in a certain way. Toxic thinking leads to toxic expression and problems in the body- Positive thinking leads to positive gene expression and health. The book is filled with data and published studies by such big names as the Mayo Clinic. Countless stories and documented individual experiences. You will learn about Randomized, double blinded research, about the difference between the Placebo and the Nocebo effect Dr. Dispenza leaves no room for questioning, his research and data speaks for itself. Dr. Joe Despenza is an incredible scientist and researcher that pioneering the science of change, healing, and miracles. He teaches on the power of our mind to change our life, heal our body, and live supernaturally. His books ‘You are the Placebo’ and ‘Breaking the Habit of being yourself are both about how to get from where you are now, to where you want to be, and experiencing a life beyond your imagination. His teachings are based off his years of research in brain mapping and the workshops he hosts all of the world where radical changes take place.Ernest Rossi, Ph.D. writes in The Psychobiology of Gene Expression: "...While the process of genetic evolution can take thousands of years, a gene can successfully alter its expression through a behavior change or a novel experience within minutes, and then it may be passed on to the next generation." (qtd. in Dispenza, 86) If you understand anything at all about quantum mechanics, this book may induce nausea. The author understands vaguely that at the quantum level, probabilities become more of a thing, and also that light possesses a wave/particle duality. However, he takes those facts and proceeds to use them to draw utterly preposterous conclusions. For instance, the idea that it's your consciousness which causes quantum states to resolve is ridiculous. The concept that disease is a "low energy" state caused by your "atomic fans" spinning slowly is inconceivable. And the idea that your brain can do something to "navigate" the "probability field" to bring "closer" to your "desired outcome" is just absolutely implausible. An associative memory elicits a subconscious program that makes a connection between the pill or injection and the hormonal change in the body, and then the program automatically signals the body to make the related chemicals found in the drug. . . . Isn’t that amazing?(p. 39) If enough emotion accompanies our imagined new state of being, the brain fires the same circuitry as if the event happens in reality. In cases in which a patient receives a placebo rather than a proven efficacious drug, the patient will often get the same benefits from the internal pharmacy of the body, as if she/he had taken the pharmaceutical. And then he gets into quantum physics and the source references kind of die off. Dispenza still writes in absolutes, as if what he's saying about positive emotions having higher frequency is totally proven, but in fact he's gotten himself into some philosophizing. Which is fine if only he told the reader that's what he's doing.

So if your mind believes in something strongly, it can do wonders. But how do you make it believe if nobody gives you a pill? This is where meditation comes into play. Actually, i would call this method sort of a self-hypnosis since you are convincing yourself certain things when you are most susceptible (during meditation). To access your sub-conscience mind, you need to get into a low brain wave state. When we are in a high brain wave state, our analytical mind is running and running with thoughts, worries, planning, and disbelief. When you slow your mind down, you can get past those running thoughts and connect with your sub-conscience mind.

Make an emotionally charged decision - Choose to let go of the past, make a decision to adopt a new positive replacement belief ( I'm smart, people love me, I'm in great health, I've overcome my chronic disease, etc) and feel strongly about it, let the emotion change your body. Dr. Dispenza has put in a great effort to deliver teachings that is of major importance in today’s living, curcumstances and overall consciousness. Much of the book, and especially the beginning, is about crazy stories of placebo effects, both positive and negative effects. For example, a man diagnosed with cancer and told he was going to live only a few more dies, soon died.

Meditation is a key tool for harnessing the power of the placebo effect. Through meditation, we can quiet the mind, focus our attention, and cultivate positive emotions. This can help us reshape our beliefs and expectations, leading to improved health and well-being. For example, research has shown that regular meditation can reduce stress, improve immune function, and even slow the aging process. StoryShot #8: The Quantum Model of Health Ground breaking research in recent decades has shown that the human mind has a powerful capacity to heal the body. However, if you’ve read any of his previous works, such as “Evolve Your Brain” or “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself,” then you’ll likely find that there’s not all that much new content here. If you’re a die-hard fan of Dispenza’s, then this will be nothing to worry about, but if you’re just a “regular” fan, you might find this one to be frustratingly “too much of the same old thing.” nocebo (Latin for “I shall harm,” as opposed to “I shall please,” the Latin translation of placebo), referring to an inert substance that causes a harmful effect—simply because someone believes or expects it will harm her.(p. 29)If you practice focused attention your physical brain will change by creating new pathways and connections and as a result will produce the chemical signals that can change your body. Research has shown that focusing attention on skills such as playing piano or shooting basketballs have nearly the same positive results as physically practicing these skills. The more you rehearse a desire or an outcome of a future event, the more changes take place in the brain wiring and the neural chemicals. Your thoughts become the placebo.

While the book is insightful and inspiring, it may be seen as overly optimistic by some readers. The idea that we can heal ourselves through thought alone is a powerful one, but it may not be applicable or effective in all cases. It’s important to remember that while the mind plays a crucial role in health, other factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and medical treatment should not be overlooked. Rating This is what creates change within our bodies. Our beliefs about what is possible, and truly believing it and thinking about it enough, that your brain literal looks like it even thou it has not already occurred. If you bring up the emotion of gratitude before the actual event, your body and the unconscious mind will begin to believe that the future event has already happened--or is happening to you in the present moment. Gratitude, therefore, is the ultimate state of receivership."It would be my estimate that about 5% of the book contains medical terms I cannot pronounce nor that I will ever remember; nor do I have need to. But for the remaining 95% of the book, all I can say is WOW! He thinks that one of the most important things you do to change your life is to decide who you want to be, and sit down and meditate on that every morning until you feel like a different person. You are literally wiring your brain in new ways to make that a reality. As Ernest Rossi, Ph.D., writes in The Psychobiology of Gene Expression, “Our subjective states of mind, consciously motivated behavior, and our perception of free will can modulate gene expression to optimize health.”(p. 86) We need to emotionally embrace an outcome and think about it enough times to where it beings to signal new genes in new ways BEFORE we have evidence of it ever happening. When we do this, our bodies are no longer a memory of the past but rather a MAP to our future that makes that even occur.
