The V860 III’s battery is rated for up to 480 pops at full power, with a recycle time of 1.5 seconds. Decreasing the output power speeds up these numbers considerably. From experience, firing the flash at ¼ power o lower, it can shoot several times per second.
The Godox flashes support wireless TTL, but only via their 2.4GHz radio “X” protocol. Again, this is both good and bad. Radio waves are much more reliable than the optical protocols used by many, and have a better range. On the flip side, Godox flashes are not compatible with OEM protocols, so they are mostly a closed ecosystem (apart from manual optical slave). Most OEMs are moving away from optical and towards radio protocols , each system also being closed, so Godox is just one more among those, with the added benefit that flashes meant for different systems (for instance, a V860 III for Sony, and another for Canon) can work together when using a Godox trigger. Used as a dedicated flash, there is little to separate this from Sony’s offering but at half the price, and the same goes for the other manufacturers. Of course, this is no ProFoto A1 or Nikon SB-900 of Canon EL-1 this is very much mid-range. Those flashguns are at the next level up, but for most enthusiasts and semi-pro photographers, the Godox VING V860III SPEEDLIGHT will provide you with the quality of illumination you need. The final big feature is the wireless control, the Godox VING V860III SPEEDLIGHT is shown to work with the X2, but in this review, I’ve been using it with the older X1 wireless trigger with good results. Like almost all Godox products, the V860 III is also sold under the Flashpoint brand at Adorama in the US. Summary At that point, thanks to Reddit, I already knew that I had to connect the Flash usb port with a usb cable A (on the PC side) to C (it was not mentioned in the doc, but it was here on reddit).Another feature I like in this model is channel scan — this gives more reliable results in crowded places where other equipment might be using Wi-Fi. The flash scans all channels and chooses one that no one else is using - very clever. They share the same battery which is fantastic for those wishing to build a complete lighting system with this brand. Even the menu design of the V860 III is similar to the V1, breaking away from the menu system on older Godox hardware. The V860 III offers many options, and can take a while to master. Its user interface is essentially similar to that of the V860 II. I’ve concentrated on the new features for this review, as all of the standard features are just as you’d expect from Godox. All versions of the V860 III come with TTL, manual flash, high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second, rear-curtain sync, stroboscopic flash, flash exposure compensation, and autofocus assist beam for low lighting situations.The flash includes a built-in 2.4Ghz wireless shooting system, allowing the Godox V860 III (Flashpoint Zoom III R2 TTL) to connect with multiple flashheads wirelessly and work with triggers. The flash includes high-speed sync for shooting at up to 1/8000s and includes FEC, FEB and rear curtain sync modes.
