The second theme, though taking up a lot less volume of the book I actually found to be more interesting and engaging. I did like the way the author described the impact of this crime on the individuals involved, the introduction of another DCI and also the final section and the manner in which the perpetrator is revealed. Police procedural mystery/romantic suspense series set in Northumbria, England following Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. Seven Bridges is yet another masterpiece penned by this brilliant author, I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it. As of 2018, Ross lives with her husband and two children in Northumberland. [17] Philanthropy [ edit ]Okay, as with the other books, the action in Seven Bridges is fast and non-stop, and the tension keeps building till the end. There were scenes that made my heart race and others where it was literally in my mouth. I imagined I was on one of those bridges with the other unsuspecting persons, unaware of the looming danger, unaware that a push of a button could end my life at any moment. Her husband also has permanent recognition on every book cover in her choice of attribution as a tribute to his support. The second initial in LJ Ross stands for her husband James, while the first initial is for her first name, Louise. This is another superb addition to the fantastic DCI Ryan series by LJ Ross. I've read all the books written by this brilliant author to date and have enjoyed each and every one of them. Set in the North East of England, this series is definitely one of the best in its genre. To find out more about the many philanthropic ventures Louise has founded and sponsored through her publishing imprint, Dark Skies Publishing, please visit ‘Philanthropy’. As to the third theme, for readers of the series my words are "don't get excited". The Author weaves a few (yes only a few) of instances to keep the reader informed that yes, please don't forget, there is some unfinished business in the world of DCI Ryan. However again this is only my opinion but it is done in such a manner to solely encourage those who want to see closure of this matter to buy the next book. Very disappointing (again only my opinion). A snippet at the start, another snippet towards the end, and then the final "We need to go to Italy!" as the close of the book.

After the birth of her son, Ross wrote the first draft of Holy Island, having been inspired by the atmospheric beauty of Lindisfarne, an island off the northeast coast of England she knew well from childhood. [12] Following its success, she now writes full-time. The second book in her series of DCI Ryan novels, Sycamore Gap, is set in Hadrian's Wall country [13] [14] and subsequent DCI Ryan novels continue the Northumbrian locations, with stories set in Northumberland, County Durham and Newcastle. Before she became an author Ross was a practicing lawyer in London. She grew up in Northumberland, England — where many of her books take place — and attended King’s College at the University of London for her undergraduate and postgraduate in law. She also studied in Paris and Florence. Having read and loved all the previous books in this series, I was thrilled to be able to read Seven Bridges. To be honest, I had been dying to read it as soon as I finished Dark Skies because LJ Ross left us all wanting to know what was going to happen. Lady’s Well– When the ancient waters of Lady’s Well in the rural village of Holystone begin to run red, it seems to be a nasty Hallowe’en prank and nothing more. But things take a sinister turn when the entire village suffers severe poisoning, and one old man turns up dead. Accusations abound in the small, close-knit community, and ‘old’ religions spar against ‘new’ while fear runs like wildfire through the streets. With so many potential motives and countless opportunities, there’s only one man who can help solve this particular mystery…However, she found herself dissatisfied after a decade working in law where every day was a battle and she longed for a change. Moving through time we now find ourselves at a much more contemporary landmark. Completed in 1998 and celebrating it’s 25 th birthday this year, the Angel of the North has become one of the most iconic symbols of the region. The work of sculptor Anthony Gormley it stands 66ft tall and a wingspan of 177ft. For ourselves and so many it’s the sign that after a trip away from the North East that you have come home. Enjoy a walk along the Quayside taking in the bridges then head along to the Ouseburn and enjoy that stunning view from the Free Trade Inn. Marsh, Michael.
