About this deal

Competitors in F3D are given 60 seconds to start and adjust their engines. The race is between three models and begins at the start/finish line, where the models take off from the ground. The F3E models are javelin hand-launched on a 10-second countdown. The race is completed after all models have completed 10 laps. The operational life of a T-pylon is about the same as a traditional lattice pylon at around 70-80 years. The conductors, insulators and fittings normally last for about 40 years, and are replaced mid life-cycle. Even in the most recent years, the Visual Impact Assessment (VIA) of artificial structures is analyzed and studied by a very small percentage of peer-reviewed journal articles ( Palmer, 2022a). This fact opens the need for new approaches, mainly quantitative ones. Palmer (2022b), stating that the wind project VIA is dominated by photography-based simulations at a limited number of viewpoints, provided an approach to assessing the visual prominence of individual wind turbines based on their distance from the viewer and the visual exposure of such turbines.

Involving residents in the early design process as decision-makers can represent a measure that could improve the levels of acceptability of new structures. L2s do both 400kv and 275kv. L66s were the first breed of 400kv, that then was replaced by L2s, then L6s came about and the L8 was the replacement for the L2. Finally we get to the L12 type which is really a replacement for the L8s as it can only carry twin conductors normally. L13s and the T-pylon succeed the L6 which has been the main construction type for 400kv towers for ages. There are 5 designs of L6, Balfour Beatty, BICC, Blaw Knox and JL EVE. The fifth is national grids own design, the L6M which is similar to the BICC version but with subtle differences. As of yet no L13s have been built and only a string of T-pylons exist at the national grids Eakring centre. The Models, Engines, and Propellers With a new school year starting, getting a pylon up on the blog for September is always tough and with the middle of the month looming, I'd begun to think that it might not happen. Yesterday, however, I had a conversation with one of the students I teach and they mentioned that on the way to Heathrow fairly recently they had seen a line of pylons by the side of the motorway (so either the M4 or the M25). Immediately realising that it would be of interest to me they captured the view on their phone and you can see the result above. I don't have any more information that that, but thank you to the student for ensuring that September is not a pylon free month. Only one round of F3E, followed by the last two rounds of F3D, were left.
