About this deal

But for those thinking of using it without a delid (just as an everday paste) it could be very useful. Liquid metal compounds are almost always electrically conductive, so while these compounds perform better than their paste counterparts, they require more focus and attention during application. They are very hard to remove if you get some in the wrong place, which would fry your system. That being said, as long as you are buying from a trusted brand, it should be enough for at least a one-time use. So, unless you’re going to use it for more than one unit, it shouldn’t be a pressing issue. Price is usually commensurate with the amount and efficacy; although, brands can sometimes charge a premium for their name, as with any product really. That being said, it’s usually still reasonable. Even though a dizzying array of different thermal pastes is available — some blends have been around for over a decade — new formulations still come to market at a surprising pace. Long-time PC cooler maker NZXT recently entered the market with its first paste, the not-very-excitingly named NZXT High-Performance Thermal Paste. Cooler Master introduced a new purple CryoFuze, and Alphacool unveiled its Apex thermal paste. Cooling mainstay Corsair also has a new XTM70 blend that will be heading to our test bench soon, and Gelid has recently released its GC-4 Thermal Paste, showing that the TIM market is still thriving.

Conductonaut is a eutectic alloy – it is a mix of gallium, indium, and tin. This is Galinstan, but the individual mixtures of liquid metal have different percentages for each element. We don’t know the exact mixture of Conductonaut, but we do know that it uses gallium, indium, and tin. Most liquid metals use this mixture, just with varying percentages of each element. Gallium typically comprises the majority of the mixture. Despite it's thermal conductivity being nearly 6 times as strong. As a result, the surfaces of the CPU cooler and heat spreader are closer together. At the same time, liquid metal has a constant heat transfer, while the larger solid particles in pastes usually conduct heat better than the paste parts. Liquid metal is preferable to thermal paste, especially in high energy applications. Kryonaut took the market by storm and won the battle (and is still dominating it) just now as the best performing normal paste . If you’re wondering this does have a very tangible effect. While it might not keep your CPU 7 times cooler, it does lower the temperature by as much as 10 degrees Celsius more than the rest of the pastes on the list. If that doesn’t make it the best GPU thermal paste, then I don’t know what would. We'll go into our breakdown of how we test these thermal pastes below, but the key takeaway here is that a single thermal compound can perform differently based upon several variables, such as what type of cooler and mount you use. To cover all the bases, we've tested every thermal paste with three variables:

Conductonaut Extreme thermal paste is technically not a thermal paste, as a paste consists of liquid and solid particles. The disadvantage of a paste is the solid particles. The surfaces of the base plate of the CPU cooler and the CPU heat spreader are uneven on a microscopic level. A traditional thermal paste fills these irregularities unevenly. Since the solid particles are larger than the gaps caused by the unevenness, more distance must be filled between the cooler and the heat spreader. Not all pastes are the same, depending on the type of paste you buy the application process can be difficult. This can lead to less efficient cooling and you damaging components within your computer. Liquid metal pastes are harder to apply than others and just one drop can cause a lot of problems. Is high-quality thermal paste worth it?Thermal compounds might always be compared and debated over, but the simple fact remains: PC system building needs thermal compounds to effectively dissipate thermal loads. Without them, our beloved gaming and content-producing machines would struggle to keep components cool during heated frag sessions, heavy workstation computations, or just simply browsing the web.

Each test stage (with time) can also be viewed above in detail! The info relating to curing time (despite the manufacturers claim) is also a great bonus to have confirmed in tests (especially as I already suspected it)...again, proper test confirmed my suspicion

We tested each thermal paste with a low-tension air cooler mount, high-tension air cooler mount, and a high-tension AIO liquid cooler mount. Each application was given a 1-hour burn-in using Prime95 with ten load and cooling cycles over the course of the hour; six minutes each with a ten-second cool-down between. Each testing load session was then executed for a one-hour load period, again using Prime95. In this temperature range you can apply Conductonaut Extreme to the surface. If this temperature was undershot during transportation or storage we recommend to heat up the product to at least 25 °C before application. Do NOT use a microwave to heat up the product. This only gets more confusing when you take into account the different types of thermal pastes: ceramic-based, carbon-based, metal-based, and liquid metal thermal paste. Applying liquid metal between the IHS and the die will result in a look more like the above. It’s slightly stained, but the staining is largely removable. You can slowly remove more and more of the stained surface, but ultimately, some of it will permanently remain. Acetone and rubbing alcohol can do a lot to clean off an IHS stained with liquid metal.
