Description

This book is rated PG-13 (appropriate for ages 13+) but if you're concerned about the content, please read the official content guide BEFORE requesting to ARC-read. They gave me a piece of paper with safety guidelines on it. I crunched it up and tossed it out the window on the drive home.” What was your path to becoming an author? What about a writing coach/educator/resource? Which came first and how did you make the pivot to the other? When the secrets between them force Tessa and Weston to face their greatest fears, they must confront the inescapable question: Is true love worth the risk of heartbreak? Is it ever too late to forgive and start over?

But still, I could have handled all of that, and still given this book 3 stars. But Weston’s journey was what really made this a one-star read for me, and so I’m going to spend the rest of this review focusing on him. Things might get a bit spoilery, but I don’t recommend reading this book, so I don’t mind leaving those bits in. The relationship depicted in this book is very problematic and the portrayal of disability and PTSD is also problematic.

Featured Reviews

He was sweet until he became not sweet anymore. He became Obsessed with a capital O. Tessa this, Tessa that, Tessa everything.

I fell in love with stories at a very young age. My mom introduced me to the world of reading, and I was enraptured by the magic of storytelling. I started writing stories of my own as soon as I learned how to hold a pencil, and I haven’t stopped since.

I wrote 100 Days of Sunlight in hopes that it would resonate with every reader – whether they have a disability or not. That’s the reason why I focus so much on my characters’ emotional journeys in the book; because even if you’re not going through a physical challenge like Tessa and Weston, you might be very familiar with the feeling of fear, despair, or helplessness when life takes an unexpected turn. B) Reaffirm her belief in the Christian god, which, again, really should have been mentioned to ARC readers beforehand. I'm still irritated about that. The plot!! Can I just express how much I AM IN LOVE WITH THE PLOT?? It's so genius!! Executed so flawlessly . . . Moving on from the amputee aspect, I also got very upset with the way consent was handled in this book. Normally, if consent isn’t written out but there are no issues, I don’t take much issue, although I’d like for consent to be verbalized more. What bothered me about the consent in this book, is how it was clearly stated that she didn’t give her consent, but he kissed her anyway. This makes me sad, because I really wanted Abbie to succeed and do well, and I was really hoping for a magnificent book that would blow me out of the water. But now I'm just left wondering if this is really what she thinks about disabled people...
