To me it smells much more grown up, I think because Sunflowers was well worn by young girls in my Middle School years, although I never wore it unless I snuck a spray from a friend because it was pricier than something my Mom would have been willing to purchase for me at that time, also I don't think she preferred it. I personally avoid all aquatic/melon/freesia type fragrances because of the horror they become on my skin. Violet Eyes is too light to have any personality - it’s a sweet, fleeting disappointment to me, but Black Pearls is sublime.

Liz’s other perfumes like emeralds and white diamonds are classics but unfortunately this one doesn’t agree with me. What I discovered is that the first 2 minutes can be almost unbearable- a weird synthetic Lily strapped onto Aldehydes at 200mph. Soft lily of the valley (LOTV often gets screechy, but not here) that is mellowed to bright, but soft by the melon, peach and the yang-ylang. I am a big fan, and supporter of the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances—from Passion, to Gardenia, and most of the Diamonds in between, but I do not enjoy Diamonds and Sapphires! A rich, lush white floral very alightly sweetened with melon amd rounded out by a delicate musk and ylang.

The Issey Miyake references are very accurate, but Diamonds and Sapphires has none of the screechy or piddly notes. I couldn't say that this is one of my favorites, but yes, there are the days over the year, when I absolutelly love it, and this is mostly during the winter time. For example, some top note citrus scents smell stronger immediately upon application, while a lavender middle note may be sensed after some time from application as the top note evaporates. This fresh floral scent combines lily of the valley wrapped in a bouquet of freesia, a floral heart of jasmine, ylang-ylang and spices and a finishing layer of seductive amber, sandalwood and musk. I have Diamonds And Rubies which is an exceptional, magnificent piece of perfumery, in fact my favorite all time Liz Taylor perfume.it’s cleaner than the other two in a floral way, the melon is not like escape to me, I would not compare this at all to issey miyake, it has the background similar to a few of Taylor’s scents. This is not the kind of melon you get in something of a watermelon note, an it's like a candy with melon scent. The two fragrances combined create a fresh airy clean white floral scent that is perfect for spring and summer.
