Zecharia Sitchin’s lack of a formal education in Semitic Studies likely led to an inaccurate and therefore misinformed reading of the Sumerian texts. Sitchin's ideas have been resoundingly rejected by scientists, academics, historians (including Sumerologists, Orientalists and Assyriologists) and anthropologists who dismiss his work as pseudoscience and pseudohistory. Sitchin, as would any curator at the British Museum, but we just need to take this author’s word for it that their rigorous academic training is wrong and that he is right. Sitchin's books have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been translated into more than 25 languages. Sumerian language is completely isolated language, and no one can say he has the confidence to understanding the words on the tablet. Such surveys are common in astronomy and usually involve follow-ups that individually detail the more interesting sources. Sitchin’s theories are appealing to those who now seek a more “scientific” answer to questions that were previously answered by religion. Even if Sitchin is referring to written rather than to spoken language, it is unlikely that his contention can be persuasively defended, since Sumerian ideograms were preceded by the Azilian and Tartarian signaries of Europe as well as by a variety of script-like notational systems between the Nile and Indus rivers.

As a friend used to say years ago, the real Golden Rule is that he who holds the gold makes the rules. In his first novel, The 12 th Planet and its sequels Sitchin claims there is a 12 th planet beyond Neptune known as Nibiru that reaches our inner solar system once every 3,600 years.

On Wikipedia and ATI it talks about the original conspiracy stemming from an archaeologist in 70s who studied the language and claimed this story to be true up until he died at 90. On page 207 the author starts to discuss the Emerald Tablets written by Thoth (Enki’s son) where he discusses in two short paragraphs how Thoth the Atlantean raised the people of Egypt and erected The Great Pyramid over the entrance to the Great Halls of Amenti. A badly damaged text from the Neo-Assyrian Period (911 – 612 BC) describes Marduk leading his army of Anunnaki into the sacred city of Nippur and causing a disturbance. They were thought to possess extraordinary powers [12] and were often envisioned as being of tremendous physical size. Sitchin merrily ignores all this and assigns unwarranted planetary identities to the gods mentioned in the theogony.
