About this deal

In 1969, producer Michael Klinger devised plans for a gangster film to capitalise on public interest in the British criminal underworld after the Kray Twins' convictions. If there’s a worthy remake to take in (as it seems there must be in today’s market), I’d recommend the almost scene-for-scene black-exploitation flick, Hit Man (with Bernie Casey and Pam Grier). Aside from its score, Budd also composed three songs: "Looking For Someone", "Love Is A Four Letter Word" (with lyrics by Jack Fishman) and "Hallucinations".

Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve. Many believed the crime was part of a failed attempt by the Kray twins to gain control of the Newcastle underworld. Caine’s appearance in the movie caused a stir at the time, everyone’s favourite cheeky chappie turning hard and vicious in his quest for revenge, but in the novel there is barely a hint of a pleasant side to his personality. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 87% based on 38 reviews, with an average rating of 7.On its general release in the North of England, Chibnall notes it had a "very strong first week", before an unseasonal heatwave damaged cinema attendance. The Landa case also is referenced at the start of the film with a shot of a newspaper bearing the headline "Gaming Wars".

Describing the initial critical response to the film, Steve Chibnall wrote "Initial critical vilification or indifference establishes the conditions in which a cult can flourish. The majority of the film's music was composed by Roy Budd, a jazz pianist and composer, who had previously worked on soundtracks for Soldier Blue and Flight of the Doves.

That movie is just the kind of comedy I like and so people are always shocked when I don’t rave about it. Lastly, the films of this decade seemed to exhibit their own riff on the cinéma vérité style of movie making. Scanning both lists, and the distinguished films this feature accompanies, should gather those who’ve not experienced the movie around for a long denied viewing, IMO. She attracted Hodges' attention not just for her good looks but for her work on Alun Owen's television plays Stella and Doreen.Various parties warn him to head back to London but his determination to find the killer leads to violence, bloodshed and the eventual truth. S., we were just leaving winter (and the 60s weren’t that far off in the rearview) and happily expecting better forecasts in our future. He did not, however, employ a traditional noir technique of using a voiceover to expose the character's inner feelings.

So when his older brother dies in a car accident back home in Newcastle, even his bosses are nervous about his trip up north for the funeral. He can really lay it on and lay it on well but in the movie I felt it got confused with aggressive sex appeal. It predicted that "It should please in the action market, but won't win any laurels for Caine although his portrayal of the vicious anti-hero impresses".
