About this deal

Rosley Books for Antiquarian books, CHS, Cumberland, Everyman, GKC, Inklings, Keswick, Literature, MacDonald, Rarities, Theology and History. Thankfully Granny Weatherwax, the Discworld’s most famous witch, has plenty of experience ignoring the status quo. The novel introduces the character of Granny Weatherwax, who reappears in several later Discworld novels.

Excellent production quality, excellent choices about how to handle Death and the footnotes, largely excellent narrators.Pratchett packs his tale with fantasy tropes including a spectacular magical duel and a few Lovecraftian references. Now I have in the past read probably a dozen or so Discworld novels and have come across some of the major players in this epic series, Granny Weathwax included, who was the star of this book.

A non-Discworld book, Good Omens, his 1990 collaboration with Neil Gaiman, has been a longtime bestseller, and was reissued in hardcover by William Morrow in early 2006 (it is also available as a mass market paperback (Harper Torch, 2006) and trade paperback (Harper Paperbacks, 2006). The Dedication: "Thanks to Neil Gaiman, who loaned us the last surviving copy of the Liber Paginarum Fulvarum, [. Equal Rites’ by Terry Pratchett was originally published in 1987 and is Book 3 of The Discworld series and the first to feature the Witches. A number of coincidences result in a learned Wizard passing on his legacy to a baby girl in a world where it is simply unheard of, for a woman to become a wizard.Simon is a natural talent who invents a whole new way of looking at the universe that reduces it to component numbers. This book is not as funny as its predecessors, though the plot seems more cohesive and a little less meandering. kitaptan oluşan bir "Fantastik Seri" denilince "Diskdünya" bana okunması zor, birbirine bağlı, içine girdiğim zaman çıkamayacağım bir evrenmiş izlenimi vermişti. In the Discworld, men are wizards and women are witches – at least that is how it has been up to the point when young Eskarina Smith sort of becomes – both. Granny doesn't have her friend Nanny Ogg as conversational foil and counterpoint in this book, and it's surprising how much that limits her character.

Twenty years later, Pratchett brought a similar relationship to beautiful fruition with Tiffany Aching. But it's still a fun ride from beginning to end, and honestly the characters are such a delight I don't even need them to be having world-in-peril adventures; I can just watch them hanging out.Even in the Nineties, a fair number of Moggies are still going, "strong" and, particularly the split-screen ones, are very definitely collectors' items.

Another fabulous reread in the Witches Discworld series by the terrific Terry Pratchett who here takes on the issue of gender equality, where witches are witches and well, wizards are wizards. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. We also get her all alone without Nanny or any other witch, so it's quite an important role she's got here as the introduction to Discworld Witches.

I don't have Mort at this time, so unless I get it from the library, I will wait a bit until I can acquire Mort. Justamente este es el primer libro que conforma la saga de las brujas, pero que sin embargo el lector puede pasar al segundo porque no hay relación directa entre los dos libros. Ordinary minds are just vague to them, they hardly bother with them, but a mind with magic in it shines out, you see, it’s a beacon to them.
