Saturday Night Wrist is the fifth album of Deftones and, according to many, the most misunderstood and divisive record of their career.

The first wave of acts for next year’s Primavera Sound have been confirmed, with Deftones, Bikini Kill, Amyl And The Sniffers and more joining the likes of Lana Del Rey, Pulp, The National and FKA Twigs. Snot's Get Some cover would've been memorable even if it wasn't tinged with the tragedy: Frontman Lynn Strait died a little over a year after the album's release in a car crash alongside his loyal pal, Dobbs, the doggie de resistance. No doubt, it's a cool memory for the cover model, not to mention a great way to remember her relationship with the band. Since then, Deftones has released eight more studio albums, with every single one receiving critical acclaim. High quality pressing, dead silent noise floor and the mix is steady across most tracks - not a piece of cake considering that it's a compilation - maybe a bit flat sounding overall but I chalk that up to standard compilation mastering/mixing difficulties from different sources.Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. Several band members have battled addiction, and founding member Chi Cheng passed away in 2013 after a horrific car crash.

The album was a major departure from the band's earlier sound, incorporating elements of trip-hop and shoegaze into their signature metal style. Co-created with visual artist Frank Maddocks (known for designing many Deftones covers, including White Pony), the band wanted to convey a convergence of militarism (the soldier) and emotionality (the dragonfly wings), and the intentional layering of the image — it looks like the handiwork of numerous graffiti artists — channels the many dualities of the music itself, which pushed and pulled between heavy, catchy, angry and heartfelt.
