It's a pleasure to read a mystery where every sentence, even every word, advances the plot or comments on it. She pulls a kid’s wish list off a tree, resolved to fulfill his wishes, and one of his wishes is to bring Dad home.

I think I would have enjoyed the story more or gotten sucked into the action faster had I already been familiar with the series.Andy’s relationship with each and every one of them is my favorite part of the series, and reading Rosenfelt's books is as comfortable as slippers and hot chocolate. Our own home quickly became a sanctuary for those dogs that we rescued that were too old or sickly to be wanted by others.
