Bailey is less than thrilled about this but as she strikes up a friendship than Charlie, she discovers he's maybe not as bad as she thought.

they are literally so cute, from the prequel i knew i was going to enjoy the book, but wow i did not expect to love it the way i did! i was really hoping they'd have a conversation about how bailey felt about her mom and scott's marriage. for someone who is literally constantly looking for even one comfort read in this cold, cold world, and for someone who constantly hates all of them, this was huge.when you're in the room, every single cell in my body - every nerve, every muscle, every breath - is lost in you. The conversations/flirty banter between them made me feel like I was back in middle school (but in a good way lol) even though they were 17. I wished Charlie had a lil bit of bigger chapters because the angst from this chapters made me feel so much.

Charlie’s cynicism didn’t mix well with Bailey’s carefully well-behaved temperament, and his endless commentary was the irritating cherry on top of an already emotionally fraught trip.

not that i’m complaining or anything, I just feel like the readers should’ve gotten more backstory on charlie. When seventeen-year-old Bailey starts a new job at a hotel waterpark, she is less than thrilled to see an old acquaintance is one of her coworkers.

What did his having a daughter my age have to do with the fact that I wasn’t wearing pants—or a bra—in front of him in our kitchen? i still couldn't listen to the taylor swift album that'd been popular at the time, because it made me cry.Later in the book Scott sets Bailey straight on a few things and it really is obvious that her mother should’ve been honest with her much sooner.

The book was a bit long for a YA romcom contemporary, and I felt like it could have done without some parts having as much page time.
