About this deal

It's such a core part of the human experience, and this book captured a most lovely rendition of it. I couldn't think of a single thing I didn't enjoy in here, from the characters to the plot to the writing.

I've been wrapping up George Saunders' A Swim in a Pond in the Rain: In Which Four Russians Give a Master Class on Writing, Reading, and Life in which he takes seven short stories and dissects them for meaning and demonstration of craft. The book explores the history of coffee more generally, where it is grown, where it is consumed, and how some of the different café cultures developed, and perhaps more importantly why they developed differently. It's one of our favourite spots to spend a morning working, decent for people-watching, but not so much happening that you're permanently distracted. Why can life be fulfilled only by running the family inn you hated for 15 years, after your siblings death. Here you'll find hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes and the like, and while the food's all well and good, we prefer the natural daylight on offer above ground. The book makes constant reference to their online platform where key documents to help with all aspects of running a cafe are kept - a fabulous free resource. The way I have have always hired is to go into a big place like Walmart, ask a staff a few stupid questions and if they keep smiling and answering.

She was wearing a beige cardigan over a pale aqua shirt-dress and crimson trainers, and a white canvas bag.

If she could just find her own Tom Hanks—a man who’s sweet, sensitive, and possibly owns a houseboat—her problems would disappear and her life would be perfect. Coffee is only second to oil as a commodity in demand and why I have always kept coffee in some manner - in my portfolio. You can't leave the cafe while you are time travelling, and you can only stay in the past for as long as it takes for your coffee to go cold. Much of what I found annoying could fill a role as stage directions in a performance piece, but it really jars in a novel. Each little pack comes with the 20 page colouring book (with a new issue illustrated and released every few months) and a box of crayons.
