Charting across Europe, the EP became a top 10 hit in Flanders and Poland, charting within the top 20 in Wallonia and the Netherlands. Elsewhere, there's more talk of bad boys, cherry pie and other old fashioned glamourisms much like its parent album, but there's still progression to be found. The songs on this album are the sort of songs that you feel nervous to breathe when you are listening to.

Paradise's lead single is "Ride," a downtempo pop ballad produced by Rick Rubin and co-written by "Video Games" author Justin Parker. To promote the album, two promotional singles were also released, a cover version of "Blue Velvet" and "Burning Desire". Yayo' is Lana at some of her absolute jazzy best, 'Blue Velvet' is one very sweet cover indeed and the grandness and scope of tacks like 'Ride', 'American' and 'Bel Air' make this a really beautiful record in my book. I'm not gonna review the music as you probably like the album/artist already if your dropping money on a vinyl version. Nashville Scene described it as, "a rad little bit of Americana-stalgia, and to be perfectly honest, I vastly prefer Tutmarc's version of "Ride" over Del Rey's — it's a gauzy, dreamy take on a tune that, in Tutmarc's hands, has a pleasant and memorable melody.

The Prophet Blog wrote: " Paradise, sounds like the record she was always meant to make — not the one she had to. She achieved critical and commercial success with her second album, Born to Die (2012), which contained the sleeper hit "Summertime Sadness". Originally appearing on Del Rey's first EP, Kill Kill, and her debut album, Lana Del Ray, "Yayo" was re-recorded for inclusion on Paradise. A promotional video for "Burning Desire" appeared online on Valentine's Day 2013, featuring Del Rey as her usual lounge singer persona, interspersed with snippets of the Jaguar F-Type. I am struggling to comprehend how someone so young can dig so deep into the human condition and conjure such reflections. Additionally, Del Rey published the poetry and photography collection Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass (2020).We love Lana's music, but as most everyone else here claims, surface noise abounds on both copies, and an intriguing, almost symmetrical scuff mark adorns Side A. All of these tracks have a retro feel to them and sometimes like american for instance focus heavily on american symbolism and ideals so if your looking for something different from Born to die then your looking in the wrong place sadly. Del Rey portrays a prostitute in the video, [18] which the NME described as "not exactly empowering," and said might be seen as "anti-feminist". The box has cardboard inside to fill up the missing space from the Born to die album I think was supposed to be there.

This limited edition LP sleeve contains an additional slipcase for your copy of the Born To Die LP plus the eight-track Paradise EP. Thank you so much to the seller, I got worried that it was lost but it arrived the day after contacting the seller so it was just snail mail delayed. According to Bush, the album's significance was embodied by a simile from "Gods and Monsters": "Like a groupie incognito posing as a real singer, life imitates art. I have completed the set with Born to Die: Special Edition in vinyl (containing the three extra tracks in gatefold double vinyl) and it sure does look stunning.All of this is probably a metaphor for something, but honestly, we’re still trying to figure out what those 'Born To Die' tigers mean. On October 10, Del Rey premiered the music video for "Ride" at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California. He singled out the lyrics of "Body Electric" (" Elvis is my daddy/ Marilyn's my mother/ Jesus is my bestest friend/ We get crazy every Friday night/ drop it like it's hot in the pale moonlight") as being "cliché[d]" and "babyish", a trend pervading the entire album.
