About this deal

Assignable 16 MIDI CC parameters can be used across four switchable banks to really get the most out of your MIDI hardware and software while the four new controls give you excellent realtime control for truly dynamic performances. When you purchase a sofware licence you are effectively purchasing a code that will allow you to use the acquired software on your computer. Your sequenced notes are shown on the colourful LED strip above the keyboard - sequencing has never been this easy. Wondering if the sequencer in the Syntakt would be a better option for synth modules down the line vs spending the extra money on the KS PRO.

Unlike a traditional mod wheel, it’s fairly easy to brush past the strip and accidentally turn modulation on. In the keyboard section, pitch bend and modulation appear as touch strips, with pitch bend ‘spring’ back to a zero value as you’d traditionally expect. Overall, I think there is so much overlap between the Pro and Syntakt, that you should be good money with just the 37. By registering the supplied licence in your account with a particular software vendor you are creating a permanent record of ownership so please be advised to make a note of your login details at the time of registration. As with the sequencer, you can adjust swing, gate time and tempo subdivision while your arpeggios are playing. It's re-sponsive, dynamic, expanded in every direction to encourage musical exploration - the controller that’s built to inspire. The KeyStep 37 goes to places most MIDI controllers fear to step, with full standalone capability and both MIDI and CV connectivity as well as the usual USB. On the KeyStep 37, Chord Memory even has time-based strum effects, simply select the number of notes per chord and adjust velocity sensitivity - the harder you hit, the more notes you’ll hear.

Add a wealth of creative chord, scale and MIDI functions and an expanded interface with tactile new controls. You would generally be requested to enter the supplied activation code to activate the software and allow you to use the software on your specified computer or laptop. In the classic SH‑101 style, you enter note and rests with the transport stopped, and the sequence length is simply determined by the number of entries. Arturia have designed the KeyStep 37 to integrate well with your existing setup and it can be hooked up to your synth hardware with MIDI in/out and it's great for controlling VST instruments with MIDI over USB. The Arturia Keystep 37 is a 37 note MIDI controller keyboard paired with Arturia's critcaly acclaimed sequencing toolset.

As with that controller, the KeyStep 37 features an eight-mode arp and a polyphonic sequencer with an eight-slot pattern memory. The most annoying feature is the way all the buttons are blinking hard in your face when activated -- even the octave+/- buttons. To top things off, the Keyboard play mode allows you to switch to playing a live line over the top of a sequence once it’s been triggered.

Finally, the LED strip above the keyboard also displays triggered arpeggios in real-time, so you’ll never lose your place. Every aspect of KeyStep 37 enables you to truly savor the creative process, turning every improvised note or idea into a happy accident.Meanwhile, a USB connector marries the keyboard with a computer – the unit is bus-powered in this mode – but the keyboard can also be powered from a USB charger in standalone mode or an optional 12v power supply.
