If you have a medium-to-large sized garden of 150 metres square and above and have no desire to keep moving the sprinkler around, go straight for this model because we don’t know of any other oscillating sprinkler with a wider reach. We measure the range covered by the spray and look at the density and coverage of the spray pattern, to see if it leaves obvious gaps – or throws more water out in some places than in others. You’re also advised to have the system installed by a professional landscaper because the instructions are pretty poor.

As you can see in my test setup I am using a standard hosepipe that extends to my automatic hose reel. Diving into any transaction without being armed with the right information greatly increases the chance of disappointment with your purchase. These sprinklers contain a long plastic or metal tube with many openings and move back and forth, producing a fan-shaped waterfall effect. This colour scheme is probably going to be one of those love it or hate it things, but I did like that it made the sprinkler easy to see and therefore less likely to be trodden on. In short, this sprinkler can be set to water a wide range of sectors between 25 degrees and full 360-degree coverage by moving the orange clips left and right to adjust how far the head can rotate, as shown in the picture above.No problems to report with this model, not as durable as our previous two recommendations but it’s much more affordable. However, you can adjust the width and range from as little as 1 metre right up to 15 metres, which again is some of the most precise settings we encountered.Another maker with great pedigree is Kärcher, who has much expanded its offering aggressively over the past few years.
