About this deal

They mention that it is a good entry point into the hobby and a decent starter for the Blood Angels. The Death Company units are going to be a big scary threat for your opponents but your other units are going to be able to get work done, too.

Let’s start with the basics and our typical first big question: Do we get a second Combat Patrol Box? Please re-visit this Cookie Notice regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.

These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints. We’re revisiting the Blood Angel Combat Patrol to see how many points it is and where to build from there.

But what sets the Blood Angels apart is a blood-curse (you’ve probably noticed a theme in the naming of everything to do with Blood Angels), in their DNA that causes soldiers to be lost to an uncontrollable bloodlust, much like Edward Cullen, but with less glitter. You’ll have a nice armored core of two Impulsors, two DC Dreads, and a Gladiator Reaper to move up and provide mobile fire support. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. You see, during the Horus Heresy, the gene-seed (the genetic make-up used to create Space Marines) belonging to the Blood Angels was destroyed and someone thought it’d be a good idea to create a new one from their Primarch after he died. There’s quite a few ways to build this army out from the Combat Patrol because it’s kind of a “generic” core to start from. And honestly, I don’t know if it’s going to fill a gap the army has or if it’s just going to be more redundancy.

This patrol is led into battle by a Primaris Librarian, who has some decent rules (at the time of writing, they may update the rules later on) allowing him to hold his own.

At this point we’ve got points for two directions we can go to make this army feel like a Blood Angels army and not a Red Space Marine army. But don’t worry, it’s not all bad, while they go insane they gain some strength of their Primarch and get to go down in the blaze of glory. As someone who spends a lot more time building and painting miniatures than playing with them, getting so many figures at once is enough to keep me busy for months at a time. And if you really wanted to, you could make him Death Company for another +20 points — but I’ll leave that up to your discretion. The models might not scream blood angels, as there aren't any blood angels unique units in here, but it's still a good starter kit with good value.

Personally, I just don’t feel like it’s a “real” Blood Angels army without at least 1 unit of Death Company. You can block or delete them by changing your browser settings however, as described below under the heading " How can I control cookies? I’ve been painting mine of dark green for Dark Angels (and got ahold of the Dark Angels upgrade sprues separately for the unique shoulder-pads, but these aren’t necessary). In this series we’re going to revisit the older Combat Patrols, breakdown their points, and talk about where to build from that box. We do this using a variety of digital marketing networks and exchanges, advertising technologies like web beacons, pixels and cookies, in addition to technology offered by third parties such as Facebook pixel's custom audience feature.

You can paint them as any Space Marine faction you want, but the upgrade sprues have the Blood Angel Iconography, so won’t be useful if you’re painting them up as Dark Angels or Space Wolves or anything. Personally, I’d rather have the option to Combat Squad down to two units of 5 per unit instead of being forced to start with 5-man squads. To witness the Blood Angels in battle is to behold the dichotomy of the Imperium’s majestic glory and capacity for apocalyptic violence made manifest.
