About this deal

Perhaps it’s because I feel so connected to the people in the stories and I don’t want to say goodbye. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. I'm glad I met new people in here and hope to learn more about them in the next book, can't wait for yet another installment coming up! With his signature heartwarming characters and immersive storytelling, Kawaguchi once again invites the reader to ask themselves: what would you change if you could travel back in time?

I would say that this series is a great starting point if you want to start reading Japanese literature.A great pick if you want an easy to grasp, and relatable plot; one that will be giving you a reality check on life. The author has such a delicate manner of conveying such heartbreaking situations, and finding hope and closure at the end. Ho avuto inoltre un senso di fatica, troppi dettagli, troppe descrizioni, troppo saltare di palo in frasca in storie tutto sommato troppo simili e fra di loro e con le precedenti. Before Your Memory Fades is the third book in the Before Your Coffee Gets Cold Series by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and I truly loved it.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Maybe it has become a bit too repetitive, maybe all the stories were a little too similar this time - or maybe it was just translated differently. However, unlike the first two books of the series which were set in Café Funiculi Funicula in Tokyo, we meet Nagare and Kazu along with her seven-year-old daughter Sachi at Café Donna Donna in Hakodate.

In the latest book in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series, the action moves from the small, hidden café in Tokyo to a café in northern Japan with a beautiful view of the harbour. Besides those ones existing in Japan, I thought at first that such a cafe is there somewhere in America as well. Featuring Kawaguchi's signature wistful storytelling, Before Your Memory Fades is full of heart and emotion. When you give a gift to someone who is striving to achieve their dreams, you have to give them the most cherished thing you have. Translated from Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot and featuring signature heart-warming characters and wistful storytelling, in Before Your Memory Fades, Kawaguchi once again invites the reader to ask themselves: what would you change if you could travel back in time?

Among some familiar faces from Kawaguchi's previous novels, readers will also be introduced to a daughter, a comedian, a sister, and a lover, each with something they wish they had said differently. I dont really understand why the book repeats itself so much - it’s like bingeing a TV series that’s forcing you to watch the ‘last time on…’ every episode. Poignant stories of missed conversations and lost opportunities are given the chance to be put to rights for different protagonists with different outcomes. Plus, it gives page time to Sachi, a very inquisitive young girl who has just learned how to pour the magical coffee that sends someone into the past. The story of Todoroki and Hayashida of the comedy duo PORON DORON was one of my favorites and I especially liked how it connected to one of the cafe workers. It is a beautiful book, and an even more beautiful series, which I thoroughly enjoyed and I am sad I have to let it go, at least for now.
