I'm not saying any of these things couldn't have gone the way they did, but the more they deviate from the expected and the sensible and what common sense would dictate, the more set-up they require.

After just tackling the magnum opus graphic novel Shubeik Lubeik I was curious about this eight part comic series which seems to also examine the world of what if everyone got everything that they wished for. I commend the creative duo for taking this over the course it did, just when I thought it would be stuck, it pressed on. Definitely an improvement on Curse Words, but Eight Billion Genies is still just a big, goofy idea stretched out over eight issues. He kills Floyd after the latter's forces attack El Futuro and kill its leader, at which point Robbie promises to protect the people of El Futuro himself (including Betty and Carlos, who start a family) and leads the haven for 54 peaceful years before dying of old age. It doesn't help that when she does meet people, they instantly think she's some Cthulu-esque Eldritch Abomination and attack.They also warn people to word their wishes very carefully to avoid unforeseen consequences, but they don't care what happens afterward. They're not bound by a lamp or any other restriction: they grant wishes because they see it as an art. In fact, one of the core tenets of El Futuro is that children can't make a wish without their parents' permission until they're 25. Although the series’ outward success happened with lightning speed, it was the culmination of years of creative effort.

Image did a great job of producing a beautiful book that really shows off Browne’s eccentric and colorful art. Benevolent Genie: While the genies are amoral at best given how they're happy to grant blatantly destructive wishes like the carasaurus or turning a person into a vampire, they're never malicious about what they do. He has worked for DC, Marvel, Valiant and others, and with Soule, created the fantasy comic, Curse Words, which is being developed as a series. Lampshaded by the genies themselves, who note that Robbie is bright for his age and responsible enough to not make an impulsive wish.

There's a bit more plot, at least, with each issue showing the world eight seconds, eight minutes, eight hours, etc.
