The coupler idea probably wouldn't work for most cpvc, but with completely flat couplers it works extremely well. I didn't cut the plunger head off though, opened the spring up and worked it around till it came off. EDIT (3/7/14): I picked up a pair of non-freak Firestrikes, and so their performance will replace the freak Firestrike's performance.
